Playing First Life
It was computers this week. On Tuesday and Hobnose was thinking what to get to build her new one, Now she already had the case, hard drive, DVD and power supply, and was wondering where to get more parts. At the same time Werevereen was wanting to play Second Life and Whirlwind and not getting them to work woof, since his graphics card didn't have enough memory. I just happened to take a look at Craig's list and found a good one for $30. The guy also had a dual core AMD motherboard that I was interested in for another computer.
Wednesday we went out to the Sheetz in Monroeville to meet the guy. Hobnose went to Ralph's next door to get a MRE meal, and Werevereen was inside getting coffee, and I got the stuff. It's a few years old, but it's good and just what we needed. Werevereen is playing SL, and I replaced the momboard in a Compaq with what I got, and it boosted the speed nicely. It's nice, my first dual core computer.
The only thing I didn't have was the heat sink and fan for the AMD processor, and right across the street was an A To Z computer shop, so I got it there, how convenient.. :) Hobnose got her momboard too, a nice Gigabyte one for an Intel chip. The shop owner had an accent and Werevereen asked where he was from, and he was Russian like the guys at the other store. The prices are even better than on line stores with the stuff that the Collie got.
Yesterday I worked woof on my computer to make sure everything was okay. The sound wasn't working but I got that fixed in a late night session. We also went to the thrift store but there wasn't anything good to buy. After that we went to Giant Beagle and got a cart full of food.
Today, Hobnose is watching The Jetsons, she got a bunch of episodes from the first season. It's cold out so we are staying in mostly, but I did get to walk to the blank while Hobnose had an afternoon nap.
