On Friday Hobnose and Boomer went for a walk to Boomer 84, we wanted to go past it and see what was going on, Hobnose wanted to know what was up that track beyond where we usually go. It was the nicest day for a long walk!
Past Boomer 84 we saw new graffiti and got pictures of some, and saw what looked like a city car pound where abandoned and wrecked cars were parked behind a fence, and in another section there was recycling and guys working to put metal into different dumpsters in a dirty lot. There was a silver box like we had seen in other places along the tracks and wanted to know what was in it, and this one was open. It looks like a signaling and battery box that once had Edison batteries, switches and a railroad phone, and some of the parts were marked 1964.
Past the Liberty Tunnels there were more dead deers, all in one area again. A train went by after we were through at about 10 miles an hour, and we were wondering why they couldn't have just walked off of the tracks. Herbivores.. ;) After that I realized where we were, behind the Red White and Blue thrift store. Those were tracks we had been on a year ago the last time, but got to from the store not by taking the tracks all of the way down. While we were there we went to the thrift store, but had no money to buy anything. Getting hungry we decided to go back, and got to the house at dusk.
Later on, Bruce stopped by and wanted to hang out, and then we went to his house to look at his computer to see how he could hook it up to his camera to make videos of jazz, and get the net going. Bruce was gone for over 3 months and has to get his stuff all working again. First we went down and got late night burgers at Wendy's and looked at the computer, and it's just too low capacity to do any good with video, but Hob and me had seen computers at Red White and Blue that might be good and barked about it.
Saturday morning Bruce came back over and we all went to different thrift stores to try to find a computer deal. Werevereen came too. We went all over, from down the street to the Goodwill Computer store in the South Side, to Mount Washington, and then through Overbrook and Carrick looking for any computer store. Bruce thought the same as Ric that Goodwill Computers was too high priced for us, but I did see my technician buddy from their warehouse sale though.
We came home and went to our computers, and got some of The Who's videos and music to make a compilation DVD of their stuff, Tommy and Quadrophenia all on one disk. It's Alive was coming up, but Hobnose and me wanted to get some little knife switches that we had found down by the tracks, so we drove close to the area this time and parked. It seems like we are on the tracks so much lately, it's the latest trend, yes. The knife switches are little versions of what you might see for turning on the power to Frankenstein's monster.
It's Alive had a show about the new president and Bush leaving the office. When a president leaves, in my mind I see an office chair sitting there spinning, with nobody sitting in it. They played a space monster movie with kids who go up on a space ship, and with Gamera the turtle they defeat monsters and aliens who want to take over the Earth.
