All skate like Snoopy

In these few days, the new year has been really neat so far. Last weekend Ric Sheepy was here, and we set up his new computer. It can take time, and there are lots of little things to do to tweak it, but it sure beats a new computer off of the shelf, because of the junkware that gets put in those to offset the cost of Windows. It's bad how the major computer makers treat their customers, but then everyone wants the cheapest computer.

We also went to Bocktown restaurant and bar for the second time, and it was great again, the big basket of fries and sandwiches. We did some radio that got going at the last minute, and it was fun for a while, doing it all for some fun with microphones and music. Great long visit with Sheepy. S'ift Fox usually has a Furry gathering in downtown, and it's sad that he had a poor turnout this year. It might have been nicer to have a small group like that.

This weekend, on Saturday I went skating at Ice Castle, the big rink in Castle Shannon, on Green Tree's family day, and ooh was it fun! I hadn't skated for a while, so I took it slow at first, but kept going for the whole two hours that the party lasted, and didn't fall down or crash in to anything.. :)

There were a few newbies and young kids who had to learn, but many of the skaters were really good, some of them going backwards, coming to stops and shooting ice out of their blades, and stuff like you see in hockey. One thing I noticed about the other skaters was that very few of them were chubby, and in fact I only noticed one in the whole arena full. It made me think how skating must keep everyone who does it fit and lean.

The coolest thing besides the ice were the other kids there. They loved it when a Dog got loose on the ice, and I got to play and have fun bouncing around barking and putting my paws up as I slid along. A crew of guys and girls were asking questions about being a Dog the whole time, like what treats do I like, and if I mark outside, looking at what my collar says, wanting to know about my Squeaky toy, and my flopping ears. They barked to me and I barked back, and later on they were skating along with me a bit, and we were all barking.

At the end of the party I took out my camera to take pictures of the place, and my new buddies gathered around and asked if they could take my picture, and one posed with me too. One said that I was their hero, and 'I love you Boomer The Dog' too. I barked about being on Youtube, with my Dog costume and riding the Fox, stuff that happened at a party I was at, and they all said they were going to watch it. One of the guys even looked like Eric Banks from the 'Woof' movies, and was about the same age I think.

Sure these guys laughed and probably thought that being a Dog was silly at first, but by the end I felt like I had won them over and made some new friends. Now that's nice in its own way, but it's also like an answer to those folks who tried to make me think that being a Dog was the wrong thing. Well I never really did believe them, and got to prove them wrong a little bit, and it shows what one of the big things in life is about - just having fun.

If Hobnose was there, she would have had a great time too, being a Dog, trying to skate and crashing in to stuff, probably holding paws with Boomer to stay up, I can see it now.. :)

I got off of the ice at the end, and they had a special for us, snack and a drink for $1.50, either a hot Dog or slice of pizza. I got the pizza and a Cola, and the pizza tasted the same as what I used to get at the local pool, except that this was pie cut instead of squares.

Now I have to do roller skating, just like Wilby Sheepdog did in Shaggy DA! At least roller rinks have more exciting music, not easy rock like Ice Castle does. Then again, this was a family night, but there really weren't that many adults out on the floor. I hope that Green Tree does have a roller skating night, I'll be there!
