Oh my goodness, Arabic is so cool. Seriously! Today we learned about roots and patterns...I'm horrible at explaining things, but there are these roots that consist of usually three letters, and the root contains the meaning. So you have all these words that mean 'writer' and 'written' and 'book' and 'wrote', and they all come from the root that

I agree--roots kick ass!!! And it only gets better, what with learning all the conjugation patterns and knowing the masdar just by looking at the verb! Hooray! Nobody ever shares my enthusiasm for them...and it's useless trying to explain them to people who don't study Arabic. They just kind of stare at me and go, "Uh, that's nice..." Anyhow, that's it, I guess. Mumtaz!!
