Dark Designs

Another story song, this one from the second story in my Chloreirian series and immediately follows “Walking In Darkness”, but picks up with different characters. One of the characters is a pyromancer, someone who has power over fire, who is trying to find his younger sister and the man who kidnapped her. Another character is trying to find the man who killed his wife, who just happens to be the kidnapper. That’s the premise of the story, the thing that brings three men together, but it’s also about how those three men forge bonds of trust and friendship and how, through those bonds, they are able to accomplish amazing things.

Dark Designs

Someone I care for disappears
Someone I cannot lose.
A dream tells me not to follow
Yet how can I refuse?
His crimes can’t be forgiven
There’s only one path to choose.

An unplanned encounter
Opens the next act
Two men have the bravery
And strength that I have lacked
Together they seek a man
The same as me, in fact

Another, one with greater need,
Also pursues my foe.
I go with them, as they hunt
And hope that they don’t know
In my weakness and my fear
I let him bring them woe.

The three of us, together,
Now track him to his lair
I am the only one who knows
What we will find out there.
Without them, I would be caught
And trapped within his snare.

Because I had them as my guards
The tables are turned.
In the end, I can escape
To take the prize I’ve earned
And give to her the freedom
For which she has long yearned.
