These lyrics were difficult to write, but at the same time I had fun with them. In the universe where my original stories take place, there is an organization. I’ve called it the Aphaean Organization… The Arm of Aphaea… Chloreirian Intelligence… basically, they are people from all three countries that make up the Chloreirian Islands who are tasked with tracking down and stopping those who are turning their magic towards illegal activities. Each team is made up of two people: a person without magic (called the Hunter) and a person with magic (called the Judge). These lyrics are about the premise behind this special group.
Aphaea was a goddess worshipped on the island of Aegina and later was identified with both Athena and Artemis. Since Athena is the goddess of wisdom (among other things) and Artemis is the goddess of hunting, I figured the name of a goddess who was identified with both of them fit this organization very well. I might change the title... but I'll leave it for now.
The Founding
It is said: with power great
The dangers will increase.
This fact is true in all things
And magic not the least.
Should a mage, to darkness turn,
Someone must stand against him.
For, without a source of light,
The world itself would dim.
Into this dark and moonless night
Two come against the foe.
The hunter and the judge are called,
As those of long ago.
The hunter tracks the enemy
All over hill and dale.
The judge decides the course to take
To see they do not fail.
Using magic of his own
The judge holds darkness back.
The hunter takes this opening
To charge in and attack.
When the fight has reached its end
They travel home once more
To wait until they’re called again
To fight another foe.
