Aww I appreciate your love for Peter/Claire/etc. a lot. I'm glad you're finally into Heroes so you can give me your thoughts on them as you progress through, it makes me smile.

As for the KatieRuby/GenRuby stuff, idk if you've noticed but most of the time when I talk about it in plurk, it's specifically my feelings on how the actresses handled playing the role and how they have different views on her and emphasize different parts. It's never about how Ruby's CHARACTERIZATION is different, because that's all development. When Ruby is fresh out of Hell, she is less emotionally connected to Sam and Dean which is why she's more stand-offish as KatieRuby. This is also why I use Katie for BNW Ruby, because she's been through Hell again for an entire year on Earth time, so she's returned to that stand-offishness despite some very important S4 things that have changed her ability to perceive emotions and express them. Everything with Sam in S4 led to a lot of personal growth for her, but she still retains her stand-offish Hell attitude when she's fresh out of it.

Gen focused on the fact that during the events of 4.09, and this is a quote from an interview, Ruby became aware that Sam was all she had left, since she'd turned her back on Hell and she had no one else on Earth. So, she really focused on Ruby's emotional connection to Sam, and I think it's important to discern what part of the character is an emphasis by the actors, and what part of it is the way the character is written. Ruby's voice comes off differently depending on if you're more comfortable in Gen's voice or more comfortable in Katie's voice, but if you look at the lines by themselves, they all blend together very well.

I definitely don't differentiate them in my head as a character, and most of the time when I talk about them being different it's how in my perception, they're the same character with some development, and how I don't understand the way other people can't see that. I think taking the fact that I tend to differentiate them by using KatieRuby or GenRuby as qualifiers is a liiiiittle out of context because when I'm not doing the above, I'm using it to differentiate my accounts which I have separated for the two of them for extra Icons purposes.

So, I appreciate the nitpickyness of the crit, but I want you to rest assured that I don't have a problem blending them in my mind, either when I'm discussing Ruby as a character OOC or when I'm playing her IC, because, as I've stated a dozen times in the past month on plurk for this unpopular opinion in fandom memes, I view them as equal portrayals. I like them both equally for different things that they brought to the character, but it is important to acknowledge the differences and decipher them and use that to give an idea of what the development Ruby genuinely gained was, as opposed to what was developed in how she saw fit to act to manipulate Sam. I think the difference in emphasis between the actresses does a lot to help glean what is genuine and what's manipulation, so I think it's important to recognize and analyze the differences, even though it's obviously the same demon in a separate vessel and that's … not up for debate at all.

Love you too. ♥ And thank you for posting this and letting me stop worrying over what it would be.

I think that's why I was afraid to mention it, because I know you and your views and I was like...it's probably nothing. It was mostly the comment you made on my love thread that made me :| for like two seconds before I told myself, "This is Tifa, she's cool about that, stop it!" It's really good to know that I'm just paranoid, as weird as that sounds.
