Laid-Back Sunday

Ian was doing his last day of server-training at Perkins this a.m. (with his sister as trainer), so after he left for work, I ran errands--various things to buy at Wal-Mart and three grocery stores.  I bought new litter boxes for the downstairs kitties--actually, they're the lidded plastic storage containers that are just about the right dimensions for three fairly-large male cats to do their business in.  Got those all set up and disposed of old ones (pretty much impregnated with cat smell)--yuck!  Then I cleaned up TV room a bit--vacuumed, shook out throw rugs, etc. Have run several loads of laundry and am catching up on washing dishes.

Last couple days I've worked outside since the weather's been so decent.  Haven't run the AC for almost a week--pretty nice after a solid month of 90+ temps and hi humdity.  I completely cleaned up the courtyard--took me Thursday and rest of Friday after I got back from school.  Yesterday, I worked in my old garden space--which I'd let go for several years.  It was a tangle of weeds, nettles, wild raspberries, and volunteer trees.  Pulled out everything, raked up and disposed of at least 6 inches of composted ground cover, and cut down a fairly large Chinese elm.  Still need to trim some other trees.

My next back yard project is putting in the fire pit.  Nothing's more fun in the Fall and early-winter than having a big fire we can sit around during a cool / chilly evening.  There's a loophole in city ordinances which will allow me to have a fire pit; but I doubt anyone would have much care about it since I live just barely inside the city limits anyway.

The usual suspects (Sis and her friends) will be here tonight for our weekly groupie viewing of HBO's True Blood.  We've kinda created a tradition of getting together on Sunday evening and watching our favorite HBO series--True Blood; Game of Thrones; Boardwalk Empire--are the ones we usually follow.  But we've also watched Hung and another one I can't think of right now.

Tomorrow I will get a haircut and try to get really serious about planning my Modern Eurpoean Lit Class.  SIgning off for now.
