Do I look like an accountant?
Cuz the work I've been doing lately is ALL accounting. And don't get me wrong, I can do it well enough... but it can get downright annoying- like finding a needle in a haystack when things don't add up right. I eventually figure it out, but not without my share of headaches.
Today, spent the day billing vendors and reconciling our receiving invoices for pop. Ugh. Reconciling bills is a major pain in the ass. 9 times out of 10, the problem is either 1) the vendor is not giving us the allowances they promised, 2) the category manager who was supposed to pass on the paperwork with the allowances on it that we needed to put in the system failed to do his job, or 3) the store employee in receiving did not thoroughly check all discrepancies and pricing against logged problems on the invoice before sending it to Pricing to be reconciled. Ugh. Lucky me, I experienced all three problems on one invoice today!!! AHHHH! I had to hold the invoice, and will have to finish it tomorrow.
In other news- I've only managed to get about 10 emails or so, and a couple of these from interested school principals in the last week. Like I said, it's all the annoying red tape I can't stand. But perhaps going to a couple of job fairs down there, where I have immediate access to principals would be a good thing...
I've talked it over with S, and we've decided to make our vacation then. Two days will be job fairs, but the rest of it will be spent camping and enjoying the NC countryside and coast. And if I do happen to get a call back... well, I won't be so far away that a 2nd interview would be impossible.
In the meantime, my dear S will get to see something I don't think he's ever seen- the Atlantic coast! We're thinking about camping at Cape Hatteras National Park. I will have to look into it a little bit more, but I'm thinking this sounds like a great plan!
Oh, and did I mention that with the help of my dad and sibs, this year my mom is getting a cell phone prepaid for a year? We have been itching for her to have one for some time, in case of emergencies. She's always been saying how she agrees it would be a good idea, but never has the time to look into actually getting one. S's aunt helped me figure out what would work best, and I got it for mom yesterday! Right now, working on getting it all set-up for her, so that she can use it right away...
Also got her a couple of hanging flowering plants. Very beautiful. Yup, mom will love her gifts! I'm a good daughter, aren't I? ;)
Oh, and btw, yesterday's softball game? Pathetic. We played the best team in the league (they won last year), and got mercied. At least I got home in time to watch House.
