I remember the first posts that talked about the difference, back when I was mostly only lurking. I kinda love that it's now an accepted difference pretty much everywhere I go, in fannish contexts, even in fandom_wank.
Even though some people keep forgetting and try to report imbroglios in a grudgewanky way warning--you know what's funnier? I thought I remember the name of wanka turned wanker, and it turns out zie wrote
an hilarious rant about finding a Shakespeare slash fic lovingly footnoted, at which I had boggled a while ago. I mean, footnotes! Correct, interesting ones! I'm still curious about what fic that was, and I'm still boggling at the difference in fandom cultures. In JA fandom, you're being awesome if you bother to footnote. Or is that only my impression?
Also! Friends of mine that are not much in dw/lj, can I redirect you to
the discussion prompted by that post that was grudgewanked? I think it's about a subject we always deal with, in JA fandom. I don't have the mental prowess at the moment (when do I, anyway?) to put down my thoughts about this, but I thought you would be interested.
