Hikago Kanzenban Scans
Some Kanzenban scans of the chibi characters at the front of each volume, from Vol. 1-9. The descriptions are cute, as are some of the objects associated with them (Akari's object is a Hikaru!!). Click on images to enlarge.
Also, regarding the covers: The new editions have beautiful covers, of course. Underneath the covers, on the paperback cover itself, you'll find sketched versions of the colored cover that more or less correspond to how the colored cover turned out. All except for volume 4. The preliminary sketch is quite different from the actual cover, if you consider how closely the sketches and colored covers correspond for the other volumes.
Below, volume 4 outer cover:
Inner cover sketches, front and back:
A much closer-up image of Sai on the front, while on the back, Torajirou faces us through a lattice screen, and...Waya? This is the volume with zelda, but...it's weird to have Waya on the same page as a faceless Torajirou. Maybe Obata-sensei was having difficulties with this cover. Anyways. I love the way the color cover actually turned out, but that frontal image of Torajirou in the cover sketch is really interesting too. He looks so lonely!
