Are you ready to ROCK?

Feb 04, 2006 23:10

My weekend got off to a bodacious and face-rocking start when I went and experienced the hard-core awesomeness that is AC/DShe, an all-girl AC/DC cover band. They played in Monterey last night, and lo, they did rock mightily. Not only are they hot, but they totally wail, 'specially their lead singer Bonny Scott (heh heh). And the lead guitarist Agnes Young (heh heh) played some truly face-melting guitar solos. So. Awesome. I don't even like AC/DC all that much, but I was punching the air, headbanging, and flashing the devil horns with the rest of the black-clad, wristbanded, shaggy-haired audience (though I took care not to overuse the appropriate hand gestures.) Interestingly enough, this is not the only such band around--Nellie & Jim went and saw Hells/Bells a couple of weeks ago. You might think that there wouldn't be room for two all-female AC/DC tribute bands around these parts, but you'd be wrong.

Also this week, there was pizza, beer, and bowling. I'm clearly getting back to my blue-collar roots here. Also also, went and saw Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day. I've said it before and I'll say it again, god bless the Golden State Theatre.

On for tomorrow: bridal shower for boss at chichi brunchy place in Carmel, a lovely massage thanks to my birthday gift certificate, and our Super Bowl Sushi party. Since I have no particular football allegiance in this contest after the Bears' near-miss, I will be rooting for Seattle. Because, uh, their mascot is a bird. You know how it is.
