So I keep thinking I should update, but then I keep not having anything interesting to say. My cold re-whollumped me again Friday night. I felt okay Saturday, and spent the day out in the freezing cold with Debbie at the flea market. It was quite fun, though, as previously mentioned, freezing cold. Perhaps too much fresh air for my sinuses--I was back to feeling like shit Saturday night, and spent all of Sunday recovering on my couch (and again there was shameful behavior with my TV).
I got my xmas/bday iPod yesterday! I have named it
Speck. I got it all charged and loaded up yesterday, and then today when I plugged it into my work computer to charge more and add more music, something went phooey and some random file got corrupted, and *zap!* all the songs were erased. Which was very annoying, but I didn't get overly freaked about it, since my work computer's iTunes was fine. This afternoon the resident iPod guru came by to check on me and he helped me fix it.
That's all that's exciting about me so far this week. To give this post slightly more oomph, I include the year-end meme, gacked from
zixi.
1) Was 2005 a good year for you?
Overall, yes.
2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
Hmm... I think I'm going to have to go with
timfromcali diving into the revolving door after me, startling me into the biggest laughing fit of the year. Dang, it feels good to laugh that hard.
3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
The second night I was home when my mom was sick this spring. I really thought I was going to lose it. It just reminded me that my family is mortal--thing that I kind of already know because of the sudden death of the paternal unit--and that I'm not ready for any of them to be gone.
4) Where were you when 2005 began?
Records show I was at home with a head cold. Quite dull.
5) Who were you with?
My cats and my germs.
6) Where will you be when 2005 ends?
Fangirl Central, here I come!
7) Who will you be with when 2005 ends?
liptonrm and the
baylorsr Sisters.
8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2005?
I can't remember if I made a new, official one, but I kept my ongoing one, which is to always put a new roll of toilet paper on the roll if I use the last of it--no matter where I am.
hiyacynth: making the world a better place one roll of toilet paper at a time.
9) Do you have a new years resolution for 2006?
See above, plus try to exercise more and eat less ice cream.
10) Did you fall in love in 2005?
Little bit.
11) If yes, with whom?
If you don't know, you haven't been paying attention in class.
12) If yes, do they know?
Yep.
14) You regret it?
Nope, though a transporter would surely help things along.
15) Did you break up with anyone in 2005?
Nope. Though I suppose there's still time if need be.
16) Did you make any new friends in 2005?
I've made and met some new LJ friends, but mostly I'm running with the same pack as 2004. In RL, I've become much closer with Sarah W.
17) Who are your favorite new friends?
I hate questions like these. Y'all know I love you.
18) What was your favorite month of 2005?
I had several months that were made by fun weekends, but I think overall, but overall August was best. No Tim, and no fangirls, true, but it's hard to beat being on vacation for real, and with people you love dearly but see rarely.
19) Did you travel outside of the US in 2005?
Not this year.
20) How many different states did you travel to in 2005?
Hmmm... Michigan, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Indiana. I think that covers it. Nine. Not bad.
21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2005?
No, but again, several people close to me lost people close to them. And there was the icky pneumonia scare with my mom, which was as close as I'd like to get any time soon, thanks.
22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
Tons and tons of them. My mom, my sister and her family,
timfromcali, all my fangirl friends, my RL friends back in SF... *plays tiny violin of woe*
23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2005?
Hmm... It was technically a 2004 movie (at least in the States), but I don't think I saw it until 2005--Shaun of the Dead. In theatres, I think Everything Is Illuminated Serenity was a front-runner, but it was ridiculously traumatizing for me.
24) What was your favorite song from 2005?
reHmmm... Songs that were released in 2005... "Looking at the World from the Bottom of a Well" by Mike Doughty, "Catch My Disease" by Ben Lee, and "Feel Good, Inc." by Gorillaz. I think my official song of 2005, though, is "Wash Away" by Joe Purdy--technically a 2004 song.
25) What was your favorite record from 2005?
I'm all about the mixes these days. I think Beck's "Guero" is the last full album I bought, and I really like it.
26) How many concerts did you see in 2005?
Huh. I could have sworn that last Rufus show was in February, but I can find no proof that I saw Rufus in 2005. October 2004 seems to be the last time. Was it Feb, Aug, Oct 2004? Anyway, I saw The Proclaimers in September. And I saw the Fab Janes and/or Adam and the Go Comets a lot. Too much, probably, ergo: cold turkey again.
27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2005?
The Proclaimers, baby!!
28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2005?
I guess it depends on how you define "a lot." I often drank alcohol, but I only drank enough to be hungover (or fuck up my shoulder) twice.
29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2005?
No illegal ones. I took a goodly number of anti-inflammatories and/or muscle relaxant as a result of the aforementioned drunken shoulder injury.
30) How many people did you sleep with in 2005?
All of Easy, plus Billionaire Bruce Wayne, plus Batman, plus the entire crew of Serenity, male and female, not Harry Potter because he's still too young for me, and one other guy.
31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
I totally forgot/blew off three of my really good friends' birthdays. I'm trying to think... There must be something worse. Though that's pretty bad :-(
32) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2005?
Ugh. Lie of omission: Debbie not telling me she'd gotten a letter from that Big Shot Agent, made drastic edits because of it, and then sent revised chapters back to her.
33) Did you treat somebody badly in 2005?
Probably. See above re: How shitty I am about birthdays. But I'm sure there's other stuff, too. I think my mom felt really left out and persecuted this summer, what with everyone taking off on a camping trip without her, and with how well my sister and I get along.
34) Did somebody treat you badly in 2005?
I'm never thrilled with how the Cube Dwelling Troglodytes are treated by EvilCorps upper management. And I know Debbie didn't mean to hurt me with the above lie, but she really did.
35) How much money did you spend in 2005?
Much too much, mostly on DVDs and other toys for myself.
36) What was your proudest moment of 2005?
Being there for my mom when she got sick, making sure the medical profession didn't bulldoze her, getting her back on her feet. It was really stressful, but I'm so glad I was able to do it and didn't kill either of us in the process.
37) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2005?
I'm not overly proud of the drunken shoulder injury, for one. And there was a moment of mortification when someone saw my fandom pants, but that turned out well in the end.
38) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2005 and change something, what would it be?
I would have set a certain alarm clock, and I might not have signed up to both organize and write in the Berlin by Christmas thing this year because I'm totally hosed.
39) What are your plans for 2006?
Take a writing class to try to apply some structure and inspiration to my writing. Try to see more of
timfromcali. Slightly scary gene pool gathering in France next summer. Find a new job because I don't like this one. You know, like that.
...added by me because the numbering was off...
40) What do you want to happen in 2006?
Still really wanting to get the book picked up by an agent and/or publisher.
