I need to get drunk

That is all that Junghee has to read to feel her heartbeat racing rapidly.

I need to get drunk, I'm sick of all this

She texts back quickly.

I'm sure you could replace it with something way more addictive and yet healthy

The reply comes almost immediately.

As if you knew something like that

And Junghee knows.

She glances at her wrist and a red ribbon on it. Gwiboon fastened it there a month ago. Junghee never took it off.

She’s at Gwiboon’s door in a flash. She has the keys, she enters and heads upstairs.

She finds Gwiboon on her matress in the attic, she already holds a bottle of wine in her hands and opens it with her trembling hands.

Junghee kneels towards Gwiboon.

-Boonie- she whispers, but the latter is too focused on the bottle. She’s already drunk, Junghee judges by her friend’s looks and notices another bottle on the floor, already empty.

-Boonie, I’m here- she tries again, but Gwiboon doesn’t even flinch. She insists to push the cork into the bottle, pressing her thumb firmly on its tip. The bottle opener is laying right next to her but she probably has no strenght to use it.

She bites her lower lip, panting in exhaustation, as Junghee grabs her wrist forcing her to finally notice her presence.

Gwiboon glances at her friend with her tired, tears-filled eyes. Junghee is mesmerized by the sight of these glistering feline eyes, so sad, so lost. She inches closer and gently takes the bottle away from Gwiboon’s clenched fingers.

The younger girl can’t take her eyes off the latter. Her gaze pierces Junghee across. She shivers.

-You were to show me something- she finally mutters, her voice hoarse and deep.

Junghee parts her lips, not sure what to say. She hasn’t planned anything, she just wanted to prevent her friend from getting drunk- in which she didn’t succeed anyways- so she doesn’t say anything. But Gwiboon does.

-It’s easy to say for something like you. ‘Replace with something way more addictive and yet healthy’. What the fuck, Junghee?- she snorts, furrowing her brows.

But Junghee is too dazed by those bruised plump lips, high cheekbones covered by pink blush, long eyelashes that make those feline eyes even more alluring…

-You know fucking nothing about addictions. About being addicted. Yeah, you’ll say you’re addicted to music or singing or some romantic crap you read about in books- she mutters, not letting Junghee say anything- but you know nothing about real addiction. About not being able to live without that something. About not being capable of getting it out of your head. About inability to throw it away immediately knowing it does no good to you, it only makes you trapped and unable to think straight. About getting lost in the sensation just to forget and…

She is silenced by Junghee’s finger on her lips. She swallows, blinking in surprise.

And her friend leaned closer, placing her thumb now on Gwiboon’s hot cheek and caressing it lovingly.

-It’s you who doesn’t know what addiction is- she whispers and then brushes her lips so lightly against Gwiboon’s dry ones.

-What the-

-I am addicted to you. Strongly- Junghee confesses, kissing the corner of Gwiboon’s lower lip and wraps her hands around that slim waist she adores to watch while it sways sensually to the rhytm of music. Soon her lips claims Gwiboon’s, making the other girl tremble and pant while running her long fingers through Junghee’s bushy hair.

And Junghee is already lost. She knows she won’t be ever able to pull back.

It seemed as a drug that you’re watching your whole life, lusting after it, dreaming of it- you can only presume the effects it would have on you if you tasted it. Only imagine. And when you finally get to taste it you know it’s thousands times better that you’ve ever thought it would be. And that you’re already addicted.

As Gwiboon’s lips part and Junghee’s tongue slowly slips inside, the younger one lets out a shaky whimper. Their tongues dance together, their fingers interlace, while Gwiboon grabs Junghee’s neck with her free hand and pulls her on top of her, laying on the mattress.

They lay there, kissing eagerly until they’re both out of breath; they pant from the overwhelming feeling that they just experienced.

When they calm down a little, Gwiboon raises her trembling fingers to Junghee’s cheek and caresses it tenderly.

-Addicted to me, you say?- an eager nod- What is there in me to be addicted to?

Junghee covers her fingers with her own hand and hides her face in the crook of Gwiboon’s neck. She breathes hotly into it and whispers:

-Your voice that makes me shiver. Your chuckles, smirks. Your facial expressions, the way you move. Your bitchy moods, your annoying behaviour, your tender hugs, your feline eyes, your perfect figure, your sarcastic sense of humor, your need to make me jealous of everyone that you meet, your… I can’t say- she finally gives up, rising her head and looking Gwiboon in the eyes which are now watery and misty, for the tears already flow down her face- it’s you. It’s just you- she whispers, wiping those tears with her thumbs which only makes Gwiboon cry harder and embrace Junghee with need.

-B-but w-wha-at ab-bout m-me- she stutters as Junghee places butterfly kisses all over her face.

-I’m not able to live without you, that’s it- she replies, smiling tenderly at her love friend.

They stay like this for what seems eternity. Their heartbeats and breaths are already steady and calm, they just lay there, embracing and smiling with joy.

They get so lost in each other that they don’t hear Gwiboon’s mother entering the house. Only when she call out for her daughter, they come off the mattress and hug one last time.

-If anything, text me- Junghee says, pecking Gwiboon’s lips and then she stood up and went downstairs to greet her friend’s mother. Gwiboon hears her saying ‘Boonie is already sleeping, she fell asleep while we were watching another Bolywood movie’ and then her mum ‘Oh, that happens so often. She’s such a sleepyhead these days’. this Gwiboon knows why And then she adds ‘Alright, I won’t wake her up then. I hope you had a good time together’. Gwiboon can almost hear Junghee’s bright smile as she says ‘As always, Mrs Kim’.

Once she is out, Gwiboon waits until she hears her mum closing door from her bedroom. Then she grabs the forgotten bottle and manages to push the cork inside with one swift move of her thumb.

She breathes into the sweet scent and whispers quietly:

-I am addicted to you too.

The wine is soon spilled on the carpet, the empty bottle thrown away, the scent making Gwiboon a little bit dizzy again but definitely not more drunk.

She lays on her bed powerlessly and gazes at the puddle.

'I am sick of all this.' Of not having you near me always.

Maybe Junghee’s lips were sort of rehab for her, but yet they already became her new addiction.

More addictive than anything.
