Author’s Notes: Umm... because it's How To Train Your Dragon? Who doesn't love that movie?
Sometimes, for all that it scorned him,, mocked him, make him feel wrong, he does miss home; misses roaring fires and hearty meals, feather pillows and human contact where here, it’s mostly fish for eating, contact with a reptile and the heat of scales under sleepy breaths when he leans up, uses Toothless as a makeshift bed each night -- so yeah, sometimes he misses home.
He knows, though, that there wasn’t a choice, that he couldn’t have stayed, couldn’t have faced his father after he couldn’t -- wouldn’t, not ever -- kill the first real friend he’d ever had; couldn’t watch the light in the first set of eyes that had ever seen him for everything that he was and stuck around anyway; he wouldn’t watch that light go out, and certainly not by his hand.
So sometimes it’s cold here, sometimes it’s a little quiet, but it’s more than just the least of all the evils: given the alternative, Hiccup thinks it doesn’t really warrant being called an evil at all.
