Football and marriage

What would you do if you were given a ticket to see your favourite team in a major final (lets say Brazil in the World Cup final) and the match just happens to clash with your wedding day?

The results of the poll are on the BBC siteFor the other folks who dont follow football, think about the situation if the F1 season went down to the wire and ( Read more... )

Screw marriage. F1 wins. Heck, for that matter, I'd go to the football match too if Man Utd were playing in the final of the Champions League or something.

PS: Marriage is the suck. I am not getting married in this life anyways. :D

There is this guy in my lab who has a similar problem - except that his wife might deliver a baby on the same day as the World Cup Finals and he is still deciding about buying the ticket. Actually, there is also a deal involved: at his wedding, his wife had promised him the world cup finals ticket. Considering how hard they are to get... it is a Situation. What would you do?

Hmm the devil's alternative. Sounds a lot like a situation where I heard about the wife telling the guy that you either be present at the birth or better not be at home when I arrive.

Of course, with this thought on both the couple's minds, I can also easily imagine the girl smiling sweetly holding up the ticket and just daring the guy to take up the offer

I also imagine that next, he grabs the ticket and runs, thinking he can always make up later, but the match would of course not repeat. I would agree with that choice :D

Which is harder, making a baby or getting the ticket?

F1. No weddings to be scheduled on a race day.

I don't watch TV or attend live shows. Entertainment is for people with boring lives.

Here's what a geek should do:
1) Get his FOSS equivalent of WinXP media center and record the game in question (or simply use his VCR if it is still in working condition)
2) Get married
3) Come home and watch the recorded show

Reason:
It should be fairly simple for a geek to record a TV broadcast and replay it later. It is not easy to get anywhere near to getting a girl to agree to marry him, let alone getting close to the actual wedding.

Man, this is not about watching it on TV but actually going out into that open world and watching it live from the stands. And just for the sake of additional info, recorded matches are never as fun as watching it live.
