Backdated from the 18th to the present.

[Ever since Hellboy landed in Luceti, his mission hasn't changed. He's gonna get these people the hell out of here if it's the last thing he does. This was the kind of job he hated; on his own, forced to do his own legwork without any kind of social ties, and the fate of a whole village of people hanging on ( Read more... )

[Well, if Hellboy DOES INDEED MAKE IT TO THE BEACH, Sparrow is there, dragging a small raft loaded with supplies toward the water. It's time to stock up that ship of his with food and plenty of rum, of course.]

[Well, have a big red demon approaching you from farther down the beach, Jack. He's got a little business to talk with you.]

[He sees said big red something-or-other and stops short.]

So the devil's come to check on his own at last, has he?

If I was the Devil, we'd both be in a lot of trouble.

[When he gets close enough, he stops, studying the boat.]

A mermaid told me you'd be the guy to ask about a boat.

A mermaid told you to see a Sparrow about a boat? Fancy that...

What for, mate?

[He looks out toward the ocean again.]

The barrier. I'm looking for any sign of weak spots. And I've heard there's some ruins down there I'd like to check out.

First off? There's no weak spots. Wait 'til we've some sort of crisis for that, mate---earthquake, like before, or an invasion. Somethin' distracting what will upend their clockwork and cause a rift. Times of peace? She's solid as a brick wall.

Secondses? Aye, there's ruins---but what exactly is it you're expectin' to find there? And why would you need my boat for that?

I'm not the kind of guy to take people's word on these kind of things. And I'm guessing you're not the kind of guy who has a boat just to look at it.

[Well this is a tricky thing. With his death penalty, Jack has had a difficult time doing much more than look at his boat, with occasional swims out to it to get sick.

Still---he doesn't know much about the ruins. And if they've been drowned, there could be a chance the Malnosso have a weakness there that they expect no one to exploit. It might be worth a check.]

If you're to sail under the command of a pirate, boy, you've got to be able to deal with copious amounts of chunder. Can you do that?

[He has no idea what the hell you're talking about, so he goes by the old standby:]

Sure.

Lovely! Now---to discuss payment...

Payment? I'm guessing that has nothing to do with money.

It would if there were any money here, but there's not, and more's the pity. Nah, I'd be looking for a favor, really.

Depends. What can you do?

[Because this guy looks like he can do things.]
