October 18th, 2006.
I will remember this as being a good day.
Because Today is the day that I've finally decided to become a photographer, and not a corporate suit monkey.
I've been fighting with this decision for a while, but like my buddy Stuart always says, you gotta follow your gut sometimes. Especially if your gut is telling you to kneel before the nearest porcelain god. And with that in mind, I've decided to become a photojournalist.
Now, of course I'm going to finish my degree in commerce. It's less than two months to go, and it would be a nice "plan B" in case things don't work out. And besides, I might change my mind about being anal-raped by a major corporation someday. Especially if the pay is really good.
Mind you, being a photojournalist is in many ways a young person's career. However, I haven't stayed with a single career or even industry for more than 2-3 years. Hell, the Eyeopener is the only organization I've been with for more than one calendar year. Mind you, that includes 4 months off in the summer, but I was thinking about the Eyeopener the whole time. No, really. Even when my pictures showed up in the Brandon Sun. I was thinking about you the whole time, baby. That other newspaper meant nothing to me. I swear it baby, just come back. It'll be different this time. I promise!!
