All-Con: You are on Alert!

Mar 16, 2011 22:03

It seems things may not be too good with All Con this year, I've already mentioned the cybersquatting incident with the con earlier this year. Now I'm hearing even more nasty news about them.

This year, they changed their ticket pricing scheme. They now have a flat rate of $40 for pre-reg, and I expect the price will be $45 or $50 at the door (if it's available at all.) There's also add-ons which will cost you extra (the burlesque show is an extra $20.) Considering that this policy worked so well for them that first year, I'm surprised they brought it back. I know some people in the local fandom have complained about the pricing and they have received some nasty emails from the management.

Considering that kind of set up will likely limit the number of walk-in memberships, this can't be good for their bottom line. The fact that they also increased the overall price with the add-ons that's even worse. Your media guests are less than impressive for this year, and they seem heavily dependent on outside organizations to provide content. Anison Unison is providing their anime music track, and I bet in the end Anison Unison muscles out All-Con.

So All-Con: I'm calling this show a YELLOW

cons, con threat level, conventions
