Chapter Three:
“Welcome to my home, Shin Soohyun,” Boss Lee stated, an evil smile on his face. He gestured toward a chair in front of his desk. “Please, have a seat.” After the younger sat down, he gazed around the office. “Tell me, what has brought you here exactly?
“My family, I want you to leave them and anyone tied to the Shin Mafia alone,” Dongho replied, eyes still scanning the room. He noticed a picture on the wall, two of the people in it familiar to him. He understood why. It’s a picture of Jinki and Taemin. Are they related to the Lee Mafia, too?
Chuckling at the younger’s bold request, Boss Lee nodded. “If you agree to disappear from the spotlight of this city and stay here within these walls, I will leave your family and anyone tied to them alone. You have my word, Shin Soohyun.”
“We’ll need to make up a contract so as to finalize things.”
“You are smarter than you look, boy. I shall have it made up immediately. Until then, I will have one of the maids escort you to a private room. Am I to assume that under the circumstances, you won’t try to flee?”
“I can assure you, Boss Lee, that with a request like mine, I will never go back on my word. My family and those who are tied to them are far too important. I will carry the weight of them all on my shoulders as I stay here.”
“I like your style, boy. If you hadn’t been born a Shin, I might actually have liked you.” Hitting a button on the intercom situated on his desk, he smirked. “Please escort young Shin Soohyun to a private room on the second story. And send one of the scribes to my office.”
When the maid arrived, Dongho bowed in respect to Boss Lee before turning to follow her down the hall. She led him up the flight of stairs as the front door opened, two boys rushing in with Kiseop. Dongho followed the maid, unnoticed by those who just entered the estates. Kiseop and the other two hurried to the office to talk to Boss Lee.
“Father!” Kiseop shouted, barging into his office. Boss Lee had just told the scribe what to write into the contract. “Where is he?”
“Where is who, son?” Boss Lee looked toward the three at the door, smiling when he saw his nephews there as well. “Ah, you brought Jinki and Taemin over, too?”
“Uncle, Kiseop told us that you took a Shin hostage. Is that true?” Jinki asked.
“I did nothing of the sort. He came to me in order to protect his family and those linked to it. He has honor, even if he is a damned Shin.”
     “Where is he?” Kiseop demanded.
Smirking, Boss Lee signed the document as he pressed the intercom button. “Please escort my son and nephews out of here and bring me Shin Soohyun. I have something he needs to sign.”
“You can’t make him sign that!” Kiseop tried to resist being pulled backwards by two subordinates as he heard footsteps overhead. Just before they were shoved into a room, Taemin caught a glimpse of Dongho walking down the stairs. He gasped as the door slammed shut. He turned to the elder two.
     “Dongho is here?” Taemin shrieked.
Sighing, Kiseop rubbed the back of his neck. “He came here to try to take Soohyun’s place after Father thought of kidnapping him. He’s a brave kid.”
“But Dongho’s the one who fought for us in school. He was expelled for assaulting those guys,” Jinki murmured. “Why is he posing as a Shin?”
“He is a Shin.” The look of utter shock Jinki and Taemin displayed made Kiseop wish he hadn’t told them. “His name is Shin Dongho. He arrived at the boarding school I go to. Although he doesn’t act it, he really is a Shin. I hated him when we first met, but after finding out he protected the two of you, I gained respect for him.”
“We have to help him. Uncle will kill him when he finds out he isn’t Soohyun.”
“I know. That’s where you two come into this. If you explain that he’s the one who helped you guys in school, Father might let him go.”
“But he’s still a Shin. I don’t know if I can aid him.” Taemin gnawed on his bottom lip as he thought back to what he and the younger did while in the same school. He frowned at the happy memories. “I can’t believe I have been deceived by a Shin.”
Glaring, Kiseop nearly hissed at the youngest. “It doesn’t matter if he is a Shin or not! If you want to be friends with him, then do it! I’m friends with a Shin, too!”
     “You…you’re what?!”
“Shin Soohyun is my best friend. Hell, he’s the guy I like.” A door slamming in the hall caught their attention before footsteps thundered toward his dad’s office. A second later, his phone rang, making him jump. “Hyung, what is it?” His eyes widened in shock. “What do you mean Soohyun came here?! Is he trying to get himself killed?!”

Soohyun stormed into the Lee Estates, heading toward Boss Lee’s office. Throwing open the door, he startled Boss Lee and Dongho. The younger turned around, the pen hovering barely a centimeter above where he was supposed to sign.
“H-hyung, what are you-” Dongho fell silent at the deadly look Soohyun gave him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Soohyun asked, his voice laced with anger. “Did you think I’d just let you go through with it?”
“Look, h-hyung, if I did this then…”
“Then what, Dongho?! Posing as me could get you hurt. Even killed. If you had something you wanted to do, you should have come to me first.”
“You would never have let me do it!” The younger raising his voice startled Boss Lee. “How do you think I feel, Soohyun? I was born a Shin, but I’ve never once been accepted as one! So many people want you around that it nearly sickens me. Do you know how it feels to be thrown away?”
     “Dongho-ssi, calm down…”
Dongho shook his head, tears slowly rolling down his face as Kiseop, Taemin, and Jinki entered the room. “I have never once felt like I belonged anywhere until I was dumped off at that school. Doing this gives my life meaning and I won’t back down.
     “Dongho, you can’t do this.”
     “Why the hell not?”
“Because you aren’t Soohyun.” Soohyun looked at Boss Lee. “I am.”
Boss Lee laughed. “You claim to be Shin Soohyun yet this boy has the proof. Now you tell me that this boy is an imposter?”
“He had a fake ID made to throw you off. He was trying to take my place to help me. You need to release him since he isn’t me.”
Boss Lee hit a button on the intercom, an alarm sounding immediately after. When the guards swarmed the room, grabbing all but Boss Lee, he smirked. “Since I don’t know which of you is the real Soohyun, I’ll keep both of you here. Take all of them to the basement holding area.”
“Sir, even your son and nephews?”
“Yes, even them. I’ll call the head of the Shin Mafia later and ask him to come over. By then at least one of them will be dead.”
     “Father, let them go!”
“No, Kiseop. I am not one to be tricked. If they both claim to be Soohyun, then they will both perish at the hands of the Lee Mafia. Lock the Shins in a different cell. I’ll be down tomorrow evening and get rid of them.”
Waving the guards away, the five of them were whisked down the hall and nearly dragged down to the basement. At the end of the hall was a room with several cells. Dongho and Soohyun were shoved into one as the Lees were thrown into the one next to them. When the guards left, Soohyun nearly exploded.
“What the hell were you thinking, Dongho?! Because of you wanting to play hero, we’re all locked in the Lee Mafia’s basement!”
     “Calm down, hyung,” Kiseop asked.
“Why should I? He could have gotten killed!”
“Well thanks to you now we’re both going to be killed!” Dongho spat. He shoved Soohyun against the wall, his anger boiling. “If you had just let me do this then you wouldn’t be in this situation!”
“Dongho, yah, calm down,” Jinki pleaded. He and Taemin were standing beside Kiseop, their eyes reflecting their worry. “We need to find a way out of this.”
Looking at Jinki then back at Soohyun, Kiseop sighed. “I have an idea that might save at least Dongho, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to save you, too, Soohyun.”
“Just get Dongho out. I’ll deal with this on my own.”
“I’m not leaving, so I guess we’ll both get killed tomorrow.” Dongho sat down in the far corner of the cell, turning his attention away from the others.
“Dongho, you aren’t a part of this fight. You need to be released.” When the younger refused to pay attention to him, Soohyun walked over and knelt beside him. “Listen, Dongho-ssi. You aren’t a part of this constant war between my father and Kiseop’s. If Kiseop has a plan to get you released, go along with it.”
“You don’t get it, Soohyun.” Dongho turned to look at him. “I’m just as much a part of this as you are.” When they all gave him a confused look, he smirked. “By blood I am a Shin and nothing will ever change that.”
“At least let us try to save you.”
Taemin looked at Kiseop. “Yah, I don't think I can help him, Kiseop hyung. He's a Shin.”
“He is also the one who fought to protect you guys at your school. It’s the reason he was expelled.”
“That’s right! I forgot we were discussing that. We need to tell Uncle that Dongho is the one who helped us. But how do we do that?” Jinki asked.
“He said he’ll come back tomorrow evening so you’ll have to tell him then. But he won’t believe you.” Soohyun sighed.
“He has to.” Kiseop pulled a rolled up manila envelope from his back pocket. “This is a print out of Dongho’s file. It explains that he was expelled from your school for fighting. It even mentions your names as the victims of the other kid…What was his name?”
“You mean Kim Key? He and his two idiot friends are the reason I was expelled. Stupid Key, Minho, and Jonghyun.”
“So, what do we do now?” Taemin asked, sitting down on the stony floor.
“Anybody have their cell phone on them?”
“Yeah. Here, Kiseopie.” Soohyun handed his phone to the younger through the bars. “But why do you need my phone?”
Kiseop smirked as he dialed a number. “I’m going to call Xander hyung and have him bring Kim Key and his two friends down as more confirmation as to who Dongho is. I’m sure they’re itching for a rematch, eh, Dongho-ssi?”
