In this world finding your soulmate is rare.
If you do actually find them, it's almost a curse.
For how often do we actually wound up with them?
In some circumstances,
There are people who are forced into arranged marriage,
which maybe doesn't always end bad...
but even in places where we are free to chose who we are with,
how often do other things stand in the way?
Class, race, religion, culture, age, and other stigmas
These walls are solid yet transparent.
Our eyes can still meet.
Our souls can still feel..
but the invisible blockages stand in our way.
Our emotions can be exchanged through the glass
but our hearts are stuck on one side or the other.
Even though they pump feelings invisible to such boundaries
our solid hearts are the one left crushed within.
Then we build our own walls, keeping our emotions in check.
Avoid eye contact
Couples who say, "screw society" seem to be happy
but, they face a lifetime of war and turmoil
which might actually draw them closer to one another
if it doesn't tear them apart.
