He could feel Paul’s eyes on him, like a dagger that he couldn’t pull away.

“Are you sure you’re going to do this?”

Paul’s eyes were even, steady, but David loved to think that there were concern and sadness behind them. David wasn’t sure who those emotions were directed for - whether they were for David who was leaving, for Gary who was left behind, or for their little group that was breaking away. David wasn’t sure he wanted to know.

Are you sure?

David only gave him a sad smile. He trusted Paul would find the right answer in it.

The first thing he did after the league was won was... a full treat in the best spa in town.

Full bodied massage and spa, hair treatment, facial, manicure and pedicure, and of course, shaping his eyebrows.

He tried to persuade Wayne to come, but it looked like Wayne thought a mud bath was more interesting than spa, and somehow, Cris wasn’t really surprised. Doesn’t matter, he always had a comrade in arms in Smudger anyway.

So perhaps he was a bit vain, but Cris didn’t really care what others thought. He fully deserved it after his hard works afterall.

He wasn’t sure what to feel about his retirement. Perhaps he should’ve seen it coming, should’ve been more careful in what he said. But he could undo nothing and the injury worsened and retirement was the only option.

Somehow, his destiny brought him to Sunderland, and after some time, back to the Premiere League again.

He stepped his foot into Old Trafford, an opponent now, welcomed by the cheer of the crowd and the warm handshakes from his former comrades, from his mentor, and Roy hoped this time, one way to another, he could redeem his previous mistakes to them.

God, it was damn hard to keep them 100 words...
