Today was supposed to be "do lots of things with the corset" day, since I was off...but my toothache made me mope all morning, and although the pain is about the same as a bad headache, the TYPE of pain is super-distracting! This toothache started some time during Friday, and of course just about all dentists are closed on the weekend, so I've been suffering since. And because it's distracting I found it rather difficult to work on sewing anything. Sadface.

But I ran out of Aleve and took 3 Ibuprofen instead, and it seems it's rather more effective! Who knew. So during my high of NO PAIN WHEEE I cut out the drill lining, basted all the pieces together (except front and back, which were seamed normally at the edges), and sewed all the pieces together. Busk is in, too... Let me tell you, that was a bear! I had to baste EVERYTHING (fashion fabric down, because the feed dogs feed faster and it's stretchy so if it's on top it accumulates Fugly Tucks Which Make Me Angry). There was a lot of ripping-out-of-seams. >.<

So busk in, pieces together...I haven't any boning that's long enough. I stitched down the seam allowances roughly far enough away that I could fit my 1/4" spiral steels in, buuuuuuut... they're all way too short, since I ordered them for an 1860s corset pattern. I also have a long coil of spiral steel, but no tool with which to cut it! So I'm at a standstill. It looks pretty, though! My unknowing housemate was like "oh wow you make corsets that's so cool" and all I can think of is how I KNOW it won't fit right, with visions of Merja's corsets running through my head, haha. So I either need to acquire a tool for cutting spiral steel, or order them in the specific lengths I need. Any suggestions of (hardware-store-acquirable) tools besides the one corsetmaking sells?
