Medium: Television
Fandom: Supernatural
Subject: Dean and his relationship with the angels
Title: All my Bridges have been burned
Warnings: Um, spoilery if you haven't seen up to season 6 I guess. Nothing beyond that.
Notes: This has been sat on my computer for ages. And I had it all set up and ready to go and then my computer died and I lost all my playlists, and then I couldn't be bothered to remake it for ages. This probably isn't the same mix that it would have been if I'd posted it a year ago. Who knows. Needless to say I got fed-up of trying to make the cover art, which is why it sucks. There's also no commentary on any of the tracks right now.
I'm afraid there's no zip file because, well, there isn't. There might be one at the weekend, if I have a chance.
. .
William Control - DeathclubTake away the fear and I'll follow // Take me half alive // I'm not running scared tomorrow // Oh I'll survive
Well he's alive again, but all of a sudden there's a whole heap of extra bullshit hovering over his head. The fact that the angels are quite happy fucking him over time and time again is just an added bonus.
Chris Cornell - You Know My NameI've seen angels fall from blinding heights // But you yourself are nothing so divine // Just next in line
This whole apocalypse thing has happened before, Yellow Eyed Demon thing. But this is bigger and nastier and it gets to the point where he's not sure who exactly is the bad guy here. Especially once Zachariah starts twisting.
Names, and sigils start to have real power.
Counting Crows - Angels of the SilencesLittle angels hang above my head and read me like an open book // Suck my blood, break my nerve offer me their arms // Well, I will not be an enemy of anything
They know everything about him and his brother and this destiny thing that they're supposed to have. It would be nice, maybe, if they'd share.
Florence and the Machine - DrummingThere's a drumming noise inside my head // That starts when you're around
A constant headache, that's all they are. "Dean, act the part, Dean, torture this person, Dean, give up on your brother. Dean, sacrifice everything, again."
Billy Talent - The Dead Can't TestifyAnd the birds don't sing, no they don't make a sound, // When you're six feet underground.
Eventually, they start to get sick of him not towing the party line, they start pushing and needling and threatening. His got a weak spot.
Counting Crows - Anna BeginsMy friend implores me, "For one time only, // Make an exception." I am not worried. // Wrap her up in a package of lies,
Anna Milton, the angel who threw herself down and then got sucked back in, who could have helped but got caught and got brainwashed. And as time passes, Castiel becomes more than just an angel, he's a friend, he's an ally. He's still not entirely to be trusted though.
Billy Talent - Devil on my ShoulderI dug a hole so deep // I´m gonna drown in my mistakes // Can't even sell my soul // 'Cause it ain´t worth shit to take
Lucifer. Always there, more Sam's problem, but that makes it Dean's problem. And all the other angels who are telling him to do what they want, never mind that it's not what he wants, what he thinks is right.
Hootie and the Blowfish - Driver 8Take a break Driver 8, Driver 8 take a break. // We can reach our destination, but we're still a ways away
There could be another way. But they'll run out of time.
Steve Miller Band - AbracadabraYou make me hot, you make me sigh // You make me laugh, you make me cry
(Yeah, I have no excuse for this.)
Mumford and Sons - Roll Away Your StoneIt seems that all my bridges have been burnt // But you say that's exactly how this grace thing works
And it's down to the wire and Dean's on his own. Sam's plan didn't work, the angels have backed Adam instead, and he's got to stop the apocalypse all on his own. But the end is only ever the beginning of something else...
