I used to shave my head for a similar purpose as your friend. I was never satisfied with who I was and kept finding new people to become. With each new phase came a shaved head. I was born without it and therefore, I start my new life without it. Only when I am content with who I am would I let it grow out. Well, I'm still not exactly content, but I quit shaving it because I eventually realized that I shouldn't spend so much time worrying about my image or how I come off or how people percieve me. My peace came from realizing that no one is ever 100% happy or satisfied and that we all have flaws, be them big or small. I guess, in a way, that was my area of being content. My imperfection.
I've always been a firm believer that if you spend all your time trying to be unique, then you're not being true to yourself. If everyone else happened to do what you enjoy doing, would you stray away from the things you love just for the sake of being different?
Well, I'm done blabbing. Hit me on myspace when you get a chance. (I'm that Kupkake guy who asked permission to add you, in case you forgot.)
