Chapter 18:

Tears and Melons

It was the weekend. No one was home and he had the whole house to himself with no plans for the day.

And Jun knew he wasn’t the only one without any plans. And plus, something needed to be done about a certain pair or he’d go crazy. He’d been planning this since his visit to the library, it was about time to put it into action.

So, at exactly two o’clock in the afternoon, Jun picked up his phone and dialed his first victim.

"What’s weird about studying? Just because I don’t have month long marathons like you, doesn’t mean I don’t study... I promise I won’t lay around... I don’t care, bring whatever you want... okay, I’ll see you in a few minutes." Jun ended the call and found the next number. He paced the living room several times as the phone rang over and over. Finally, a sleepy voice picked up and croaked out a "hello?".

"Aiba-chan, want to come over and play video games? I’ve even got some new movies we can watch... I don’t care if you’re sleepy... you can come over in pajamas, you know... sure, bring your stuffed animal, he can watch with us... okay, bye-bye." Jun closed the phone and began to make his way around the house to clean it up and hide the breakables on the top shelves, just in case Aiba got too hyper... or Sho got violent or something similar.

The first person to arrive was Sho, backpack stuffed to the bursting point and a worn book in his hand. Jun smiled weakly and laughed.

"You really weren’t kidding about studying, were you?"

"You called me to study... why would I joke about it?"

Jun shut the door behind Sho and hoped Aiba would arrive quickly before Sho got too involved in helping him study.

Jun stared at Sho as he continued to explain how to do a problem in math. So far, all the words he used were foreign to Jun.

"Do you get it now?" Sho asked happily. Jun forced a smile and nodded slowly.

"Oh... yeah, I forgot... that."

"Here, try this for practice." Sho said, handing Jun a large book and pointing out problems that were way over his head. Just as Jun was about to take the book, there was a loud knock at the door and Jun almost died of relief.

"Who’s that?" Sho asked, perking up curiously.

"No idea! I’ll get the door, you stay here." Jun said quickly before almost running out of the kitchen and down the hallway. Jun flung the door open to reveal a very sleepy Aiba, fully dressed and no stuffed animal in hand.

"Jun, I don’t know if I’ll stay awake for movies." Aiba yawned as he walked inside. Jun closed the door and quickly tried to cover up Sho’s shoes with his own.

"Uh, it’s okay! I’ve got video games, remember?" Jun said quickly. Aiba tottered down the hall, yawning widely, Jun following close behind. As Aiba entered the kitchen, Sho dropped his pencil in surprise and his mouth hung open.

"Masaki?" he asked almost happily.

"Ah! Sho-chan!?" Aiba yelped in surprise and jumped back into Jun, nearly knocking them both onto the floor. Jun managed to push Aiba off him and stand back. Sho and Aiba stared at each other in a mix of emotions.

Sho stepped closer and suddenly looked worried after looking Aiba up and down.

"Have you been sick? You look-"

"Broken hearted?" Jun cut in from behind. Aiba and Sho flushed a little, bringing a little bit of life back to their cheeks.

"You look sick too..." Aiba mumbled, a slight frown growing between his brows. Sho wanted to say a million things to Aiba that moment. To tell him that the simple sound of his voice after so long brought a strange warmth to his body again, or just to see his face made everything seem brighter.

But he hesitated, he was afraid to cross the line that Aiba had put down in the first place. Awkward tension floated in the air as they waited for the other to do something. Aiba looked into Sho’s eyes and saw everything he wanted to say.

Aiba smiled, because he knew that Sho needed a push to show him that it was okay to cross the stupid line that didn’t belong between them. Nothing belonged between them.

"Sho-chan... I don’t want to do this anymore." Aiba said tearfully, closing their distance to none as he walked quickly to Sho and threw his arms around his neck. Jun leaned against the wall smugly, watching Sho’s emotional confusion as he finally wrapped his arms around Aiba’s middle.

Sho breathed in the long missed scent of his hair and smiled tearfully.

Aiba was crying waterfalls now and Sho took his fingers and wiped away the tears that pooled down his cheeks. After softly pressing his lips over Aiba’s eyes and tears, Sho gently kissed his quivering lips a few times before Aiba finally got the idea and kissed him back.

Jun cleared his throat quietly and slipped into the kitchen to make some food and to give the two a little privacy.

Aiba pulled back from Sho so he could see his face, just as wet as his own. He smiled tearfully and smoothed down a part of Sho’s hair that was stuck to his cheek.

"I’m sorry..." Aiba mumbled, linking his fingers behind Sho’s head and resting their foreheads together. Sho sniffed and softly brushed his lips across Aiba’s again.

"I told you we weren’t birds."

"We’re exactly like birds, Sho-chan!" Aiba exclaimed through laughter.

"And Jun is that overweight scientist who took down the wall?" Sho laughed. Jun made a very disapproving shout from the kitchen, making Aiba and Sho break into loud laughs.

Aiba closed the inches again and caught Sho’s mouth with his, more passionately than before. But just as Sho trailed his tongue across Aiba’s bottom lip, Aiba suddenly pulled back and stared at Sho.

"Wait, I have to tell you something before this gets too good." Aiba said in a rush.

"Okay..." Sho mumbled, growing a little worried. Aiba rested his arms on Sho’s shoulders and took a breath.

"I kissed Nino..."

"Eh?"

"Twice."

Sho scowled slightly in confusion but Aiba mistook it for anger.

"But it didn’t mean anything! First time it was because he looked cute and was sad and then the second time was because I needed a distraction! I won’t do it again!" Aiba said in one breath. Sho gazed at Aiba’s worried eyes and couldn’t help but to smile in adoration.

"Why are you so worried? I’m not mad." Sho laughed. He felt Aiba’s body relax and he sighed in relief.

"I just don’t want to keep any secrets... you... didn’t do anything, did you?" Aiba asked curiously. Sho bit his lip to stifle a laugh as he shook his head.

"I over studied... and I might be failing some of my classes." Sho was slightly surprised that he was laughing about something like that. Aiba pouted and tenderly kissed Sho’s nose.

"You’re failing? That’s not good... is that why you’re studying with Jun?" Aiba asked innocently, looking over to the table where Jun was setting down drinks and snacks.

"No, I didn’t want to study, I just needed to get you two together." Jun said proudly.

"We’re not studying?"

"No video games!?"

Jun looked between the two in disbelief and frowned.

"I just got you two to realize how stupid you’ve been and I don’t get any thanks?" Jun asked, clearly appalled.

"Not when you lie!" Aiba replied, lacing his hand with Sho’s and pulling him over to the table. Jun plopped himself at the table, glaring at the newly reunited couple... acting very much like a newly reunited couple.

Jun watched awkwardly from the other side of the table as Aiba took a piece of melon and slowly sucked the dripping juice from it, glancing at Sho from the corner of his eye.

Sho swallowed hard, a bright blush creeping into his cheeks, unable to move his eyes away from Aiba, now giggling to himself as he finished off the fruit.

"Ma... saki, Jun’s... here." Sho said weakly, seeming to have difficulty forming words as Aiba licked the remaining juice from his fingers. Jun narrowed his eyes at Aiba as their eyes met.

"You two still have issues to work out." Jun reminded him harshly. Aiba shrugged and reached for the fruit bowl again but Jun quickly pulled it away. Sho mumbled in agreement with Jun, but kept his eyes fixated on Aiba and his tongue.

"When you two are done, listen to part two." Jun said firmly, finally catching the attention of Aiba and Sho.

"Part two?"

"I know for a fact that Ohno and Nino have feelings for each other, no matter how hard they try to hide it." Jun continued, ignoring Sho’s loud and disapproving tsk.

"But... we tried before." Aiba said worriedly.

"Ohno wanted to apologize to Nino. That means he doesn’t want to start a relationship with Nino... but he wants him in his life again." Jun said with a smile.

"Ah, I don’t know... what about Nino?" Sho asked.

"He’ll be hard to convince, but I know he wants to see Ohno again." Jun replied thoughtfully. Aiba and Sho looked at each other and then back to Jun, thinking everything through. Finally, giving in with a sigh, Sho smiled at Jun.

"What’s your plan, then?"

Jun smiled and handed the fruit bowl back to Aiba before sitting up a little straighter and clearing his throat.

One way or the other, Jun was going to make things back to normal.

A/N: See! I told you I would fix Sakuraiba! It just took a really long time xD but of course, there still are issues, but things won't get THAT bad again with them for the rest of the story ^_^ yay~
Now I just have to get Ohmiya together....
And Jun's on a mission, dragging Sho and Aiba with him, only good things will happen right??

In other newz, I have finished writing Words. Yes. I finished last night when I could not sleep... good or bad thing, I don't know xD
I'll be editing, adding things, taking things out as I reread, so I'm not completely done...

Anyway, chapter 19 is a big turning point. Ohno comes to senses in a way that, I have to admit, I based on myself not too long ago. Nino is being pestered by our trio and there is a bit more Ayako...
Thanks for reading and see you soon~
