Chapter 2:
The Murdered and the Scorned Lover
"Shit... I wonder if I should have told him about this part..." Sho thought to himself as the audience settled back into their seats after a short intermission.
"Ohno is doing such a good job! I didn’t know he could memorize all those words and sentences!" Aiba continued to gush as he slid into his seat next to Sho.
"Ah, well... he does have talent..." Sho said weakly, opening up his brochure to double check which Act they were about to see. He gulped...
Act Three.
Mercutio’s death.
"Of course he has talent! He should have been the protagonist of this thing!" Nino exclaimed. Aiba leaned over Sho’s lap and giggled.
"But then he’d have to kiss Juliet!" Nino pondered Aiba’s words for a moment and then shrugged.
"He can stay Mercutio. At least he won’t have to die in the end." Sho slowly looked over to Nino and smiled.
"I thought you... you’ve never seen this?" Sho asked, his voice shrinking with the lights. Nino curled up in his chair again and smirked.
"I haven’t. But the ending is like common sense, you’ve heard about those two lovers since you were a kid. Romeo and Juliet die together... why would I want Oh-chan to die?" Nino explained. Sho smiled wearily and watched the scene unfold.
Ohno (Mercutio):
Good king of cats, nothing but one of your nine
lives; that I mean to make bold withal, and as you
shall use me hereafter, drybeat the rest of the
eight. Will you pluck your sword out of his pitcher
by the ears? make haste, lest mine be about your
ears ere it be out.
Tybalt:
I am for you.
At this point, Sho watched Nino from the corner of his eye and saw the younger boy staring at the actors, wondering what the hell Ohno had just said and why they were now holding swords.
Jun (Romeo):
Gentle Mercutio, put thy rapier up.
Ohno (Mercutio):
Come, sir, your passado.
Sho cringed each time Tybalt’s sword crashed with Ohno’s, knowing full well what is about to
happen. Aiba tugs lightly on Sho’s arm again and leans towards his ear.
"Isn’t this the part where Oh-" Sho quickly placed his hand over Aiba’s mouth and
nodded over to Nino, who was on the edge of his seat. Aiba suddenly looked worried as he
melted back into his seat.
Ohno (Mercutio):
Draw, Benvolio; beat down their weapons.
Gentlemen, for shame, forbear this outrage!
Tybalt, Mercutio, the prince expressly hath
Forbidden bandying in Verona streets:
Hold, Tybalt! good Mercutio!
At this time, Jun stood in front of Ohno, trying his best to stop the fight but suddenly, out of nowhere, Tybalt lashes out his sword and stabs Ohno. Right underneath Jun’s outstretched arms. This of course, causes the female audience to gasp tearfully as Ohno falls to his knees, bleeding and near death.
Sho and Aiba’s eyes were the only ones on Nino, who was now suddenly sitting stiffly in his seat, very, very confused.
Ohno (Mercutio):
I am hurt.
A plague o' both your houses! I am sped.
Is he gone, and hath nothing?
Jun fell to the stage, grabbing Ohno into his lap and crying like a professional over his dear, dying friend. Seeing the tears of acting from the heart, the girls begin to sniffle as tears well up in their eyes.
Jun (Romeo):
Courage, man; the hurt cannot be much.
Ohno (Mercutio):
No, 'tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a
church-door; but 'tis enough,'twill serve: ask for
me to-morrow, and you shall find me a grave man. I
am peppered, I warrant, for this world. A plague o'
both your houses! 'Zounds, a dog, a rat, a mouse, a
cat, to scratch a man to death! a braggart, a
rogue, a villain, that fights by the book of
arithmetic! Why the devil came you between us? I
was hurt under your arm.
Jun (Romeo):
I thought all for the best.
Jun holds Ohno to his chest, crying into the boy’s neck. Ohno lets his body go limp and
the sword he still clutched in his hand clatters onto the floor. He takes several gasps, his eyes
sliding shut and with one simple sob from Jun, it is known that Ohno had died.
There’s a loud and tearful gasp from the audience, mourning the death of their beloved Mercutio, but nothing can drown out the crystal clear question of a rejected lover in the audience.
"WHAT THE HELL!?"
.
A/N: This is the last part for the play :P the next chapter will begin with all the lovely drama~
