It's been a long week. I can barely remember what I did before yesterday. The weekend is long overdue.
Had a "Guys' Night Out" last night with a bunch of friends whose significant others went out for a "Girl's Night Out" with
neophobic. Ate and drank and geeked at the Highlander until about 11:00, and a good time was had by many.
I received my annual bonus last week, and it's gone into the "Get
neophobic a car fund." Planning on doing some car shopping this weekend, and with a little luck, we'll have a car soon. While I'd prefer to remain a single-car family, using MARTA and Zipcar and such for transit when needed, it's just not especially practical where we live and work right now. Additionally, if we were to go with such a plan, I'd prefer to be the one to give up their car, but as long as I'm commuting up to Kennesaw every day, that's not going to happen.
I'm getting excited about the 4e D&D game we're starting on Monday. It should be fun to give the new rules a go and play with the bigger group we've amassed for this campaign, including
ldysteph who I haven't really had much of a chance to game with in the past.
In other news...
I received an e-mail this morning from the woman who runs the off-site adoption program for the shelter where
neophobic and I volunteer. Unfortunately, not only did it not have anything to do with the shelter, but it was purely political garbage. Also, it was sent to a reasonably large number of volunteers, some of whom we'd just recruited in the past couple months.
Worse yet, with about 2 minutes of research, I was able to find multiple websites (snopes and one other) that said the quote in the e-mail was false, and that the e-mail itself was a hoax. It's bad enough forwarding crap like that unsolicited, worse that it was done to people we'd worked hard to recruit, but the icing on the cake is that it wasn't even truthful.
I sent an e-mail to the list asking that the person please stop forwarding political messages such as that, pointed out that what she sent was a hoax, and said that if the political crap continued, I'd be happy to provide a more liberal counterpoint.
Guess we'll see if it continues...
