DIY lampshades?

   I redo a lot of lamps (rewire-cannibalize) but am constantly short on decent lampshades. Plenty of ugly or the wrong shape, as I'm mostly looking for drums or at least fairly mid century types. I've started investigating DIYing better than what I'm finding, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas, experience, etc.  So far I made one ( Read more... )

the woman/maker in the first shot got the case with the slides at a thrift for $10, then sold the case alone for $40. on craiglist, and used the slides for the lampshade.

Oh yeah, I resell stuff all the time, have a few good ones, but the best is a "print" I bought for $45 that turned out to be an actual painting which I'm going to be sending off to LA Modern Auctions. They estimate the selling price at between $3,000 and $5,000. It's a Jimmy Ernst, Max's son.

I love those. I actually have slides, but they are of pictures I took, and I'm not sure I want to risk scratching them up by having them out all the time. But I do love the look -- so nice and funky.
