I redo a lot of lamps (rewire-cannibalize) but am constantly short on decent lampshades. Plenty of ugly or the wrong shape, as I'm mostly looking for drums or at least fairly mid century types. I've started investigating DIYing better than what I'm finding, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas, experience, etc. So far I made one out of half a globe (pictured below-if anyone wants to know how I did that just ask) and I'm currently trying to figure out covering shades with contact paper, as I actually have a stash of these small ones that are stained so can't be used as is, but can be covered. I'm considering edging the inside with some kind of tape to secure (hide) the edges but if anyone has ideas on better ways of doing this that doesn't involve fabric, mainly because I suck at fabric. And I find plenty of frames cheap. I'm also going to experiment with wrapping a balloon with twine. And I have some naugahyde remnants that might be fun to work with. Any other ideas would be great.
