Turkey Roaster Suggestions?

For the past few years my mother-in-law has made the turkey for Thanksgiving. Since she is having surgery the week of Thanksgiving, I will have to make it myself.

The last time I made the turkey myself, I just used those huge throw-away aluminum pans. However, I probably should get a proper pan. Do you guys have any suggestions? Is a rack really needed?
