The Joy of Driving
A whole lot of fun today. I was driving north for my niece and nephew's birthday in Baltimore when my car suddenly stopped working on the Capitol Beltway. One minute I was driving along, no problem, and the next my car was acting like it was in neutral no matter what gear I was in. The engine would rev, but there was no forward motion. So I had to pull off onto the left shoulder, since there was so much traffic that I couldn't fight my way right.
Fortunately I have towing as part of my insurance. I did have to wait two hours for the truck to arrive though, on a swelteringly hot day and at times with the windows rolled up because of intermittent rain. Joy.
The car is at a Pep Boys, which is one of the only places open on a Saturday. Of course, since it's the only place open it's also very very busy. They may be able to work on it tomorrow, depending on what the problem is, but more likely than not they won't get to it until Monday. So, I'm staying at my sister's without a change of clothes or any toiletries.
This sucks.
