It's been quite some time since I've updated my livejournal.. mostly because the minutiae of my day to day life doesn't make good press.
However, today was enough to warrant an entry, I think, due to the purely surreal nature of what happened.
I've been punted from my cell-phone plan. Bills are all paid, clear record, no late payments.
No, what I was kicked out of Sprint for was complaining about poor service, and asking them to simply live up to their end of the contract.
My Treo 650 had a nasty habit of locking up whenever someone sent a text message to me. It'd reboot now and again, seemingly at the slightest provocation. And the Sprint service itself really sorta sucked as I'd get a single bar of strength at work and at home, and I'd drop calls at least 20% of the time. So, today, I called in and asked them yet again if there was a problem in the area, and asked them if they could check up on the software rev of my phone.
Their reply was quite unique. 'I'm sorry, Sir, but you're more trouble than your worth as a customer. Therefore I'm cancelling your service effective the end of your billing period (which is in 2 days), and waiving all late fees. Goodbye. *click* '
... wtf?
But it's confirmed.. my cellphone has 2 days of use left before it shuts itself down.
I'm attempting to be a sheep and follow Andreal over to T-Mobile, mainly because the Sidekick-2 is a severe geek-toy and looks like a blast and a half to play with. Curses, Rev, for your introduction to said same device!
Anyway, I don't know if I'll be able to keep the same number. The vendor was out of the Sidekicks and won't have more in until tomorrow. It'll be close to the wire to see if the port will happen before the current device shuts down and Sprint releases the number back into general circulation.
I'll know more about that tomorrow when (if?) the phone shows up on time. Here's to hoping..
