Memory

Tonight as I walked into the kitchen I experienced the truth behind scent being the strongest sense tied to memory.  I could smell the bleach mixing with the hot water in the washing machine.  I was instantly transported to the hot tub with April.  All the times we spent in the hot tub, talking late, having drinks, making love.  She loved that.  I also thought of the times we spent with Greg and Mike Brockett, and conversation between friends.

I thought of being in the pool on our trip to Florida.  Holding her in my arms as she felt weightless in the water.  I was so relaxed in that place. That reminded me of her love for the ocean, and how adorable she was the first time we walked on the beach to the rolling waves of Daytona Beach.  She could wade in the wake for hours on end and never tire of the feel of the crashing water and the pull of tide.  I could spend hours enjoying her love for the sea, because I never tire of her happiness and seeing her gorgeous smile.

I will always cherish all of those memories.  They make me smile now, just thinking of them again.
