So those character memes have been going around, and Adam talked me into combining a couple into one big meme and doing it for the Ahoy! characters. I'll be covering the main crew, Marie, Mother, and probably the head Rutabagan Priest.
Onwards!
JOSCELINE AND LOXELY JOLICOEUR
1.) What is the character's full name? Any aliases?
Josceline and Loxely Jolicoeur. Also The Girl Captain, The Boy Captain (respectively), and The Twins (when referring to both of them, of course). Loxely is also known as the Character Who Needs A New First Name. I'm working on that. (Josceline was also Josephine for a while, but I was miswriting it as Josceline so often I just made it her name.)
2.) Who is their best friend?
Dillon Brownlee. Of course, if you ask the twins, they'd say everyone in the crew is their best friend. They've just known Dillon the longest.
3.) Favorite color? Food?
Josceline likes red, Loxely likes blue. As for food, Loxely likes really weird stuff, while Josceline likes, uh, any kind of food, really. She'll proclaim a new favourite food whenever she comes across something she really happens to like at the moment.
4.) What image / color do you associate with character?
Royal blue, although I'm not quite sure why. It'll probably be in their costume somehow, since they wear fancy 19th century-style clothes in traditional (and not so traditional) navy cut. As for image, both of them at the helm shouting cheerful but essentially insane orders, since that's generally what they do. Sunshine as well, maybe, although that's a given considering that the twins are cheery and blonde.
5.) What's their sexuality?
Heterosexual, both of them. Although see question 6.
6.) Are they currently in any relationships? Have any crushes? Who do you think would be a good pairing for them?
The twins do not pair! At least not with anyone we've come up with so far. Josceline would drive Dillon crazy within a week if they ever got into a serious relationship, and she just doesn't get Levi (and vice versa). Loxely isn't any better, not that Anatole or Katya would even remotely consider a relationship with him anyway. Not to mention that they don't see the point in this relationship stuff. Love is sweet and all, but they've got captaining and adventures to do! They need someone equally captainy and adventury to have fun with! And then they'd be so busy captaining and adventuring that they'd probably forget about the love part.
7.) Worst romantic experience?
There aren't really any on the twins' side, although they've had a number of admirers shore-side (hey, the twins are attractive and adorably clueless) who have ended up in unspeakable situations of their own thanks to the twins' obliviousness and... tendency to attract life-threatening situations. We're not allowed to talk about the Sea Snake Incident any more.
8.) List any odd skills/skills in general that they have.
Swordfighting! And swashbuckling (including barrel walking and chandelier swinging)! And captaining (they're surprisingly good at sailing several different kinds of ships of all sizes, in actuality)! And employing methods that lie outside of the realm of logic in order to get the crew both in and out of trouble. Although mostly in.
Basically the twins just know really weird and convenient things at the strangest of times. They're also decent leaders, although most of the crew only listens to them because a) they were dragged into it, or b) they find the twins fun.
9.) Any quirks or bad habits?
Ignoring anything resembling common sense, whether to the crew's benefit or detriment.
10.) Last amusing escapade?
Depending on how you look at things, either nothing or a gazillion things. I really need to get writing. Though if really pressed, I'd have to say that the most recent one was technically half the crew getting abducted by the Priests of Ordeo and getting locked up in the crazy nonsensical labyrinth that is the Island of Rutabaga. And then the twins finding the way out because Anatole was too lazy to try and Dillon's attempts to make sense of the place's layout failed utterly.
11.) Biggest fear? Any insecurities?
The twins LAUGH in the face of fear! And as for insecurities, they figure that anything that goes wrong can be overcome by just trying harder whether or not they actually can.
12.) Biggest fantasy?
To become the best captains in the entire world and basically find every adventure and all the treasure they possibly can. Though adventure takes priority over treasure, especially since treasure naturally follows adventure anyway. Right? Right?
13.) Any secrets?
Not a one. Just important information that they occasionally omit because they don't think that it's important.
14.) Do you like this character?
Yes! I love the whole crew, but I think the twins are my favourites after Anatole. They're just so energetic and optimistic, not to mention plain fun. They're our excuse for a good half of the insanity that occurs in the story.
15.) What would this character rescue if their house were burning down?
Well, the parents can get themselves out, naturally, so they wouldn't bother with them. Possibly the cat. And the treasure. And their hats if they were in there. But of course they'd never be silly enough to forget their hats in a burning building.
16.) What blood type do you think this character is?
That's like asking what horoscope sign you 'think' the character is, and then just conveniently picking whatever matches best and possibly altering your intended development for them by following whatever's dictated by the sign because you want to make it more 'authentic'.
That said, both AB.
17.) What would you want to say to this character?
So, where're you guys going next?
18.) What do you want to do with this character?
I've actually gotten Josceline's look hammered out now, but I need to write her interacting with Loxely more often, since they play off each other a lot and need to be balanced out. Right now Joscelin is far more developed in my head than Loxely is, and that needs to change.
