What's to Come in the Community
Hello fellow HIM fans,
This is a new moderator, victorianxrose, coming to you with exciting news about the community. I recently had the pleasure of joining the ranks of the moderators in the community to help start new competitions and get the ball rolling on a few other projects. My main objective is to get more activity on the community and spread the word that we exist. At the moment there are four major things for everyone to know.

My main objective is to get more activity on the community and spread the word that we exist. At the moment there are four major things for everyone to know.

- We now have a facebook page where people can get together to discuss happenings in the community, be kept up to date about future competitions and community news, and find others who enjoy HIM fanfiction.
- There will be a weekly fanfiction competition that begins in August that anyone can participate in. Each week there will be a theme based around a word. Entries will be accepted for one week, and the next week will be voting. All themes will be announced one month prior to week of submission to give ample time to write an entry. The entry may consist of a chapter of another story that you have specifically written for the theme or a one shot. Whichever works, but please refrain from just pulling previous work and saying it applies to the theme.
Each participant will receive a banner to indicate their participation and a sticker that indicates the theme of their submission in the contest whether they win or not. The top three winners will receive banners to place on the profile, website, livejournal sidebar, or whatever they please.
The first theme will be "Supervision" and entries will be accepted beginning August 1st - 8th. There will be links to where you can submit your entry and read rules soon. - Last, there will be a semi-annual HIM fanfiction contest that will take nominations from everywhere on the web. There will be many categories to give nominations for and many opportunities for writers to get nominated. A month will be given to nominate your favorite fanfics starting on July 18th through August 15th. The following day, August 16th, the nominees will be announced and voting will begin and last until September 12th. This will be a great way connect fanfiction fans from all different internet communities.
- Since we have changed the layout of the community, please keep all banners/images in your posts to a 500px width. This is mostly so that everything looks nice and neat. If any future entries do not hold to this we ask you to fix it or eventually go in a fix the problem ourselves.
- EDIT:There will be a weekend just for people to showcase other work that isn't related to HIM. Starting this month the last weekend of every month will be open for authors to put up links to their other work that is not HIM related. The only rules are that it must be a completed fanfic or a chapter that is just being updated (within the last week).
