Warnings: Blood and sex
“Morning!” Nina Caliente greeted enthusiastically as she wiped sweat from her brow.
“Oh, good morning, mi amor. Good run?” Tango Caliente greeted his niece.
“Yeah, it was good to see silly old Strangetown again.”
Tango laughed. “Still a shithole?”
“Still a shithole,” she agreed.
“There’s coffee in the pot.”
"Thanks."
“Where’s Alejandro?” Nina asked as she poured herself some coffee.
“Oh, they took Zo for a walk.”
“How are things going for them?”
“Well, they got a job at the primary school now.”
“No way!” Nina exclaimed. “Strangetown Primary hired Alejandro? Mrs Picard actually went for it?”
Tango snorted. “Nope. That bitch retired. The new principal is much more accommodating.”
“Aww, that’s great. I know Alejandro really wanted a job.”
Tango smiled. “Yeah. I mean they were always so wonderful here at home, but they wanted to do more, you know?”
They were interrupted by a half-dead creature with a nest of hair.
“Ah, good morning Donald!” Tango greeted.
Don Lothario grunted.
“There’s coffee in the pot,” Nina stated.
Don grunted again in response.
“Ah, good morning sun!” another interrupted.
“I have missed you and your orange majesty! Now let me bathe in your light!”
Both Calientes stared at Michael Bachelor as if he had grown a second head.
“What?” Michael asked.
“Nothing,” Nina and Tango said in unison. Don reappeared, looking much more awake.
“Mike, dude, I love you, but tone down the morning vibes. I might vomit,” Don grumbled.
“Anyone misplace a dog?”
“Chloe!” Nina exclaimed.
“Nina, you bitch! When exactly were you going to let us know you’re in town?”
“Uh,” Nina trailed off, “now?”
“I hate to interrupt your reunion,” Tango said. “But, er, by my feet I have a Zo the adorable Poodle, but no Alejandro?”
Chloe glanced at her sister. “They were right behind us, weren’t they?”
Jenny shrugged.
“Sorry, sorry,” a metallic voice sang from the front door. “I sensed a disturbance in the electromagnetic field and had to investigate.”
“We have new neighbours!”
“How long?” Oberon Gossamer asked, his voice sad.
“I cannot say,” Rose Greenman replied. “Magically induced comas are…unpredictable. She could wake up tomorrow, or in five years.”
“And my father?”
“I sent your father home,” Faerie Queen Mara interrupted. “He was distraught. And wasn’t helping matters.”
“I see,” Oberon sighed. “Do you think it is the same person who
killed all those other Supernaturals, your majesty?”
Rose answered: “Blood was taken. So it is not a possibility we should ignore.”
“Well,” Titania Summerdream hummed. “If it is the same person, they are stupid for attacking an immortal. The minute Zephyretta wakens, she’ll be able to identify them.”
“You have a point, cousin,” Mara nodded in agreement. “But we may not have time to wait for her to wake up.”
“What do you mean?” Oberon asked.
“This person may attack again. They clearly want Supernatural blood. We cannot allow that.”
“Supernatural blood…” Titania muttered. “Do you think it is blood magic? None of the victims showed trauma of being attacked by an inexperienced vampire.”
“Perhaps,” Mara replied. “I’m afraid I do not know much of blood rituals to truly know.”
“Only the Elders hold true knowledge of blood magic,” Rose stated. “Perhaps we should turn to them?”
“Indeed,” Mara agreed.
“So, how was the Big Apple?” Samuel Goth asked his niece.
“Bridgeport is a great city. Nowhere near SimCity’s size, but the nightlife is amazing,” Frida Goth replied. “I loved it.”
“Well, we’re happy to have you home! Or well, our new home.”
Olivia Goth turned to her niece, the scent of Jasmine strong. “We put your things upstairs in one of the bedrooms, but feel free to claim whichever you like. Sam and I will be sleeping downstairs.”
“Thanks, Olivia.”
“Oh, by the way, I have a present for you Uncle Sam,” Frida grinned.
"Oh?"
“Is that a Jelly Bean Bush?” Samuel asked, a hint of excitement in his gravelly voice.
“Sure is,” Frida replied happily. “And it’s yours, Uncle Sam.”
“Thank you, sweetheart.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Hola, new neighbours!”
“Tango, at your service!”
Samuel laughed. “Well met, Tango. I’m Sam. This is my niece Frida.”
Frida nodded her head in greeting.
“My designation is D2-07, but Tango named me Alejandro, ma’am. I prefer they/them/their pronouns.”
Olivia blinked at the Servo. “Oh, uh, nice to meet you. I’m Olivia. Er…she/her/hers?”
If Alejandro could physically smile they would have.
“So, are you three busy tonight?” Tango asked once the introductions were out of the way.
“It was really nice of Tango and Alejandro to invite us to dinner,” Olivia hummed after the Calientes had left and the Goths had made their way inside.
“Yes, it was,” Samuel agreed.
Frida headed for the stairs.
“And so you have successfully smuggled me into Vicki Vampiress’ territory,”
Shannon Copur purred. “Well done, darling.”
Frida smirked. “Told you I could do it.”
“Lady Elvira will be pleased.”
“Will she? We’re only on the border. SimCity is where you really want to be. And we need to find that witch.”
“Hush,” Shannon shushed. “In time. For now, however, you deserve a reward.”
“Yes?”
“First phase of ‘Operation Black Box’ is complete,” Shannon stated.
“Good. Any word from the witch?”
“Not yet. I’m not sure how I will get into the city yet, either.”
“Oh, don’t you worry about that. I have a human who will infiltrate The Court. You focus on meeting the witch.”
“Understood,” Shannon replied before hanging up.
“Now then, where were we?”
