So, my mother was in a car crash yesterday. Who would have thought besides me and my mother that something completely outside of our control would happen for no reason to completely disable us from getting ahead. You see, my mom was driving along the road when some cop cars came flying along. Well, my mom pulled over to the side of the road in order to yield to the police. then six more cop cars with flashing sirens also go by, and my mom is almost completey stopped at this point when a lady slams into the back end of my moms car.
But it gets better. My mom was taking my brother, who had been on leave right after gratuating boot camp in the Marines, to the recruiting station where he was supposed to be taken to Camp Legume (or however you spell it) for marine combat training. This was my moms farewell to my brother for rougly ...four years. So much for goodbyes. Anyway, my mom's car slammed into a telephone pole where the gunpowder charges for the airbags were immediately deployed utterly destroying the steering column, plus, the car was wrapped around a telephone pole, plus, there was still the rear end damage to the car.
but it gets better. My mom chipped her jaw bone, and broke her arm in the collision, but the other lady, who had received almost no damage to her car, as well as no injuries, was faking shortness of breath and severe3 backpain (which no longer seems to bother her now that she was released from the hospital with no injuries) was put on a stretcher to the already overstuffed emergency room, while my mom went to the walk-in clinic which was also overstuffed.
But it gets Better. Because of the overcrowdedness (and the fact that the man who was supposed to hand my moms forms to the front counter lady forgot to do so) my mom sits in the hospital waiting room for a good Seven hours with her broken arm. she doesn't get home till ten that night.
But, it gets better. Because, as it turns out, the police officer who wrote the report, royally botched the job on the report, so that not only is my moms statement misquoted, but also the little drawing is wrong, and finally, the other chick gave a conflicting report (part of which invlolves a faulty memory as it would seem) so that the lady is not even issued a citation for not puilling over to yield to police officers.
But, it gets better. Because, due to lack of funding, we only have liability insurance on the car, and so our insurance company is completely unwilling to do anything about the accident, to the extent where they will not even send somebody to inspect the damage on our car 9which is totalled), And, because of the screwed up police report, no lawyer anywhere is willing to take my mom as a client and fight for her.
And so: now my mom has no car, her right writing hand is broken so that she cannot use it at all to write with, and nobody is helping her except for my own personal contributions which, needless to say, consist of Rose, my car, and the small amount of money that I had recieved for Christmas.
Life may catually be looking up this time. At least my mom has a car, a job, and a place to live, despite everything else. I thing that this is the best annual tradgedy that has been bestowed upon our happy home since the divorce nine years ago (not joking about that)
So things are looking up, but it would be nice to have some normal problems like me and my girlfriend fighting, or maybe worryiing about what to get somebody for Christmas. It would be a nice change of pace.
