A Little Bit About Seattle.

Most of you don't know who I am or where I am from. You may know that my name is Hilary and I'll be going to Germany for a year, but do you know what I love most? What makes me tick, etc, etc? Well I'll start out telling you that I LOVE where I live. I am from Seattle, Washington, United States. Here are some things about here:

Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest. We are known for :

The Space Needle and Starbucks Coffee.

The Space Needle, which was created for the 1962 World's Fair, is considered the "Symbol of Seattle" and the Symbol of the entire Pacific Northwest. The Space Needle is 605 feet (184 meters) high and has a rotating restaurant at the top. It is extremely expensive to go in the Space Needle. I have lived in the Seattle area my whole life and have only gone to the top of this magnificent building once.

As for Starbucks, most of you know that it is  the largest Coffee Chain in the world. The first Star Bucks was opened in Seattle, Washington by Jerry Baldwin,  Zev Siegel and Gordon Bowker.  The first shop was located in Pike Place Market, the famous fish market in Seattle. Starbucks does not only serve coffee, they serve a wide variety of drinks. I myself am not a huge coffee drinker, but I'll go to Starbucks for a tall vanilla bean fraupaccino.

MUSIC: Seattle is also well-known for its amazing music scene. Green Day, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix and Sir-Mix-A-Lot all came from the Seattle area.

POLITICS: Seattle is considered the most liberal city in the United States. Christine Gregoire, who is part of the Democratic Party, is our current governor.

WILDLIFE AND ENVIRONMENT:  Seattle is considered the "Emerald City" for our many evergreen trees...they are literally everywhere! As for animals, we have a lot of sea animals. Orcas, Sealions, etc, are all over the ocean.

Well that's it for now!
