Livejournal, you've been up to some weird stuff while I've been gone....
Anyway, so what's new with me....
Working on this photography thing. Hard to connect to clients. That's what I'm finding. I've had more than a couple people balk at the idea that I would charge them to take photos of their event/project/selves. Silly me. I forgot that talent and skill should be given out for free. Can't pay my rent with "good publicity" folks. Sorry. If I figure out a way to do that, I'll be all about doing free photo work, but until I win that lottery, I'm going to need some money for my time/effort/skill/equipment.
Did some beautiful work lately, if I do say so myself. I'm very proud of my set with Asala, a bellydancer who's hired me a couple times in recent years. This was our third shoot together and they just keep getting better and better. Her site is
here and the set can be seen
here.
I've got a couple shoots on the horizon. Looking forward to doing more personal work as well. I've lined up a couple of models and talked with a few friends. We'll see what I can manage. In fact, I've got a whole 'nother entry about all that. Stay tuned.
What else...
Fight Stuff! I'll be teaching this weekend at the brand new Washington, DC stage combat workshop,
Bond Vs Bourne. I'm really looking forward to that. It'll be a welcome change of pace to work with people who already possess some basic skill sets. I've been running around doing a lot of "Intro to Stage Combat" workshops with various student groups. You can only teach someone to do a basic stage slap a couple hundred times before you start craving a bit of variety.
After that I'm off to Iowa to teach at the
Carnage in the Corn workshop once again. Always a good time at Carnage.
What else....
Personal Stuff! Months ago I wrote briefly about how my brother was in the hospital, in a coma. He's now up and about and doing really well. He's got a lot of physical and occupational therapy to go through, but he's really doing well. We're all so happy for him. AND! He has officially upgraded from "in a relationship" to "engaged". Which is awesome, because his fiance is incredible.
I think that's about it for today. I've got to go prep for a photoshoot this afternoon.
