It's been yet another week where I've been bogged down trying to catch up on daily responsibilities... I've been feeling run down all week like usual; I guess the colder weather combined with teenage germies combined with the fact that I've been ill three times this season already doesn't help. I hope my UCR position goes full-time in the summer because, while I enjoy working with the kids, my immune system can't take much more punishment. And I hate having such a prolonged reduction in my productivity. There're taxes to file, laundry to wash, a front and back yard that need some major TLC, and who knows what else. I'm glad Michael has an immune system of steel.
Speaking of GEAR UP tutoring: I just found out that our last day of work will be May 23rd. In the short run, it's rather nice since it will give me extra days during the week to take care of things around the house (maybe I'll finally get to dusting - our poor electronic equipment!), but it's going to hurt long-term since I'll be losing out on a paycheck. If I wasn't certain about going to Fanime before, this is the clincher. I definitely won't be attending now since I'll need to be frugal enough as it is with both AX and Comic-Con coming up in July. Again, I really hope my UCR position will go full-time by July at the latest. At that point I will have lost part-time pay for 6 weeks, which will definitely have an impact on our finances. I know I need to be frugal, so I'll have to fight my weakness for awesome sales in the coming months... I fear it will be a losing battle...
For a prime example of my weakness: I have this local comic book store called Comic Quest that has had a manga clearance table with new manga selling for (get this): $2.50 each! I was weak, and over the course of the last couple of weeks, I must have spent over $100 there. They would restock it periodically, so every time I'd go I'd find more manga to buy. Needless to say, manga for $2.50 a pop is a STEAL, and I bought a bunch of titles I normally would not have purchased at a higher price. It's a great way to sample new titles I've heard good things about, but the only downside is (besides my binge purchasing) is the fact that I have a few holes to fill purchase wise.
Anyway, back to chipping away at the pile of chores:
