Jafax '08 was my first con ever. I shrewdly elected to cosplay as Black Lagoon's Roberta, which turned out to be a LOT of trouble. Tip for cosplay newbs: Do NOT attempt a full-on maid costume for your first cosplay ever. Even if it turns out fairly nicely (and it did) you will be putting yourself through a lot of torture. Puffed sleeves are EVIL yo.

So this year I'm going as Hetalia's girl-America, the original (the bikini and shorts, not the green outfit.) I was going to reprise my Lithuania cosplay from last year, but then I recalled how I nearly died of the heat, so I thought I'd go for something with a little more ventilation. It is summer after all.
My brothers are going to cosplay with me as well, provided they don't have to work that day. The one is going to be Rurouni Kenshin's Sanosuke again (I have to put some gussets under the arms of his jacket though, so they won't bind his arms like last year. He complained about it afterwards, because he couldn't pose as coolly as he wanted to for photos lol.) The other wants to crossplay as Yuffie from Kingdom Hearts for his first cosplay ever. It was his own idea to go as her "because she's awesome." I asked him did he want to go for genderflip but nope, he wants to be regular Yuffie. I am so proud lol. I just hope he actually went out looking for cosplay components this week, because I won't be home till Friday afternoon and it'll be tough finding that much stuff (or making it!) on such short notice. We can only go on Saturday because I have to drive back to LTU on Sunday, but I expect we'll manage to have sufficient fun in that time =D
