So I find it extremely aggravating when people go on about how I should like something "because it's by a female writer/artist/whatever" or "because it's by a LGBT person" or "because it's by a minority.". You know what, if it's GOOD QUALITY, then I might enjoy it. Or not, it might not end up being my cup of tea. But I'm not going to try and force myself to like or financially support something I don't actually enjoy solely because the person/people behind it happen to be part of a less out-there demographic. That's moronic. If someone can produce something good, THAT is why you should support them and the thing(s) that they produce. Quit trying to drum up support for sub-par stuff on the basis of identity politics. Even if the thing is actually super good, you make it sound less appealing when you try to hawk it on the basis of its creator's demographic rather than the quality of the actual work.
