Sometimes I feel like the only person in the world who does not love Studio Ghibli. Granted I haven't seen that many of their flicks...I've seen Spirited Away, which I thought was too long and rambling; I've seen part of Castle In The Sky, which, while I actually did find the premise interesting, was also too rambling (I didn't see the whole thing, so I can't say if it was too long or not); I've read what I believe is called "animanga", which is a comic version of the film created from stills, of Ponyo, which was kind of boring (I mean the story was boring); I've read part of animanga of Kiki's Delivery Service, which seemed...okay, but I only found the first volume so I don't know if I'd have enjoyed the movie or not. Though I haven't seen them, I'm familiar enough with the plots and premises of Nausicca, Totoro, and Princess Mononoke to be aware that I would more than likely not enjoy watching them at all. In honesty I just don't enjoy long rambling films of any sort, and the fact that not ONE person I've mentioned this to has ever reacted in any other way than "OMG WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU HOW CAN YOU NOT ADORE GHIBLI" probably doesn't help either, considering the innate streak of perversity running down the middle of my personality. It isn't that I hate Ghibli movies; they're simply not my cup of tea. If other people want to like them, more power to ya, but please don't act like it's an offense worthy of significant jail time that I don't share your liking.
