My history class was seriously dismissed about a half an hour early today, and it was super fantastic. It pretty much made my day. Also, as I was coming out of the book store, I got accosted by a very nice girl who got me registered to vote. BWUHAHAHAHAHA. I am now officially a decision-making member of this nation. Except for the fact where one vote doesn't really count anyway.
Anyhoo, I went to this thing called "Shine" last night, and it was kind of one of those cheesy Christian things where you hold hands and sing rock songs about God. Which I usually hate, because it almost seems kind of childish and degrading. But Shine was different. I wouldn't have gone, but a girl on my floor, Elizabeth, dragged me along, and she's always seemed kind of cool so I figured it woudln't be so bad. And honestly, it wasn't. Yes, there was singing, but no holding hands and no throwing your hands up in the air and screaming "JESUS ROCKS" or anything like that. We played a game that supposedly had some connotations to being one body in Christ or something like that, but was really just some bastardized version of musical chairs. Still pretty fun, though. There was a student speaker who talked about Shine helped her find all her closest friends and all that, and I was like, "Awww, maybe this IS the place for me," because even though I've made plenty of acquaintances here, Melissa has been the only one who's been the kind of "I'm pretty sure I can tell you absoultely anything" sort of friend. Not that I've been worried, because seriously, it's only been two and a half weeks. But anyhoo, after Shine, I really started talking to Elizabeth and there was like, this fantastic CLICK, and we started obsessing over Wicked and band (she's an incredible band geek) and guys and I got this note from her before I went to bed and she's like, "SO I KIND OF HAD THIS GOD MOMENT AND IT WAS LIKE, 'GO GET SARA' AND SO Y'KNOW, I'M TOTALLY HERE FOR YOU. FOR WHATEVER YOU WANT THAT TO MEAN." Greatly paraphrased, but that's basically the gist. But OH MY GOD, it made me all happy and excited. She's awesome. I love making new friends. Now we're sending notes back and forth to each other because we never really progressed past junior high. She's a lot like me, you know. In the psychotic, bouncy, dorky sort of way. :D
So, yes, it's been a good couple of days. I hope this update was long and pointless enough for you. :D
