If Rae knew that Adam was actually missing spending time with Kamil, she would of given him a sound talking to. He was just some Hufflepuff who happened to serve her need for ruining lives and adding to their cause for the time being. Now that he and his traitor brother were gone she had time to focus more on her studies and not pretend to be nice anymore. Thank goodness, because it was really very tasking for her at times.

But seeing Adam sitting by his lonesome struck her as odd, he must just be bored or something. Well she could remedy that, so she went and sat down by him, sending him a neutral smile. "Hello, slow day?"

Looking up in surprise, Adam gave Rae a small smile. "You could say that," he said, looking back at the fire. He didn't particularly want to tell Rae that he was missing Kamil. He knew her views on the Hufflepuff boy, but the truth was, Kamil had been Adam's best friend.

Watching Adam she frowned, he was more low key than she remembered, which was not good. Hopefully it wasn't because of Kamil otherwise she didn't know what she would do. It would be horrific.

"What is the matter?" She said reluctantly, not wanting to get into detail of what minor problems he was having. But it was better than him moping around all day and she needed him to not be so slow. It was weighing her down.

"Oh," he said, trying to think of a believable excuse for his quiet mood. "I'm just...bored. There's nothing to do."

It was half true. Normally he'd have been off with Kamil, but now...now he really did have nothing to do.

"I see," Rae said raising an eyebrow. While she didn't fully believe him she was not going into any deeper discussions about his feelings. They were his and she did not want to touch them thank you very much.

Well this was a sufficiently boring conversation, she needed to do something and fast. And seeing how no one was entering the room at the moment, she would have to conjure up some excitement all on her own. "Would you like to accompany me on a walk around the grounds?"

It was better than anything, even if it was freezing cold.

Adam hoped that was a sufficient answer for Rae. He didn't really want to explain how much he was missing Kamil.

On hearing Rae's suggestion, he looked up at her. It had been instinct to look out of the window to see what the weather was like, but of course, they were in the dungeons. Nodding his head, Adam said, "Yeah. That'd be cool."

"I'll be right back then," she said, getting up and heading up to her dorm to fetch something warm to wear. Perhaps they would end up turning around if it looked too nasty, but at least walking around somewhere would not bore her too much.

Walking back down with her gloves, scarf, hat and cloak she smiled at Adam, "Ready?"

"Alright then," Adam said. Perhaps he should get something warmer to wear himself, he thought, running to his own dorm quickly. Arriving back in the common room, he saw that Rae still wasn't back so he sat back down to wait. Though not for long.

As Rae walked over, he jumped up again. "Yep!" he announced, smiling back brightly.

Nodding, she headed out of the common room and into the cooridor. Ah getting some fresh air would do wonders, she was sure, after all with all of these nasty, if highly entertaining, rumors flying around it was going to get horrible soon.

"How have you been lately? Your studies going well?" She inquired politely, not too interested but it was for sake of conversation.

Adam nodded as he walked alongside her. "They're going alright. I haven't been in any trouble lately either," he added as an afterthought. "How have you been?" he enquired, as it suddenly occurred to him to ask.

"Lovely," Rae replied while thinking about everything happening lately. "I talked with Adriana a few days ago and finished up some work, so all in all a very productive weekend." She glanced down at him, slightly proud that he hadn't been getting into trouble. After all that would be completely un-Slytherin and unbefitting to someone who wished to succeed like he did.

Adam smiled up at her, eager to prove that he was still competent to succeed. His one detention had simply been a blip.

"I don't think I know Adriana," he said. "Who is she?"

"Adriana?" Rae suddenly looked down at him intently and raised an eyebrow. He did not know who she was? Well then, they would need to be introduced at some point and she would make a note of that when she got back to her dorm. "Adriana Winters is a 7th year Slytherin, Pureblood, alliances in all of the right places, and a prime example of where well placed ambition leads you."

"Oh," Adam said, as he began racking his brains to think if he knew which one she was. "Not many of the 7th years bother with us first years. I've heard her name mentioned in the common room, of course," he went on, still thinking, trying to put a face to the name. "So she's good to know then?"

"Yes, and they are concerned with their NEWTs that will be coming up," Rae mused, because it was never to early to start studying for those. It was just a few months away and if they wanted the best scores in every class, like every Slytherin should want, they would at least have to start picking up the pace now. "Hmm, but she is good to know. There are some other people but finding a close respectable friend is key. Especially around your age."

"Oh...yeah, I didn't think about those," Adam replied thoughtfully. He should have realised that most people would be starting to study harder. "Well, that's the problem. I don't know who there is to try to become friends with," he finished, trying to keep the whining tone out of his voice. It wouldn't do to appear too childlike in front of Rae. It was bad enough that he was short for his age.
