Bastian had been in the process of walking down the third corridor of his night patrol when he heard the bellow. He recognized it, of course, but the fact that Veronica was standing there bellowing at nine o'clock at night was something that didn't quite sink into his brain.
Why was she bellowing at him?
Or perhaps she wasn't yelling at him at all. Despite that thought, he turned around and headed back around the corner, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms as she came into view. "Did you just oy me? What am I, some kind of animal?"
His tone was utterly amused as he walked toward her.
Ronnie leaned against the wall, knowing Sebastian well enough to know that he'd backtrack and find the source of the 'OY' -- if he didn't recognize the voice and know the source already.
Arms crossed over her chest while one foot rose to prop against the wall, and yep! Sure enough, the sound of footsteps drew closer. With a smirk, Ronnie looked to him, then feigned a look of slight horror.
"I'm sorry, did I say 'Oy Sebastian'?" she asked, tone utterly innocent. "No, I don't believe I did. But since you answered like some kind of animal, I'll let that question go."
With a wink, she pushed off the wall and met him halfway.
Bastian stopped walking in mid-stride. She was feeling playful, then, it would appear! He wasn't one to argue with one of those moods, so he spun around and started heading back the way he came, ignoring the fact that she'd begun walking toward him.
"Well, if you didn't want me with that 'oy', I'll just go back to work." He shrugged and started to turn the corner once more, waiting for her to say something or do something to make him stop again.
He knew she would.
He had a grin on his face that she couldn't see now, due to the fact that he was no longer facing her, but he was quite sure that she'd be able to hear the smile in his tone of voice. That was one of the perks of knowing each other better. "Don't mind me! Go back to your 'oy'ing."
"Good!" Ronnie cried, shooing him on off with her hand as he headed back down the corridor. "Wasn't 'oy'ing for you anyways, ye big arrogant brute!!"
She grinned openly, not caring that he could turn around at any moment and see her. "Maybe I was just calling for that other Auror bloke? The one I had a run-in with just last week, ooooh what was his name? Handsome devil, to be sure. Gabriel something-or-another. Hmm. OY!!!"
She lifted her hands over her head and stretched as she shouted, before lowering her hands and scratching at her head idly. "Oooooy handsome Auror!"
Okay, so maybe that one actually was left purposefully vague -- or purposefully for Sebastian, depending on who was looking at the situation.
He knew that he'd likely not actually surprise her, but he appreciated the fact that she kept the game running anyway. If she'd been someone else, she likely would have just told him that he was an idiot, turned around and wandered off.
Which, of course, would have been no fun. Therefore, when she stopped at her door and began slowly (and pointedly slow, he might add) unwarding it, he couldn't help the grin from once more spreading across his face.
She was a little vixen, she was. Slipping up behind her, he let one of his hands rest on her waist as he leaned down and murmured in her ear, "I don't think I could deal with losing your touch." In other words? He'd totally shirk work for her! It was really no question -- fun with Veronica, time spent with Veronica, or work?
Ronnie let out a sharp, surprised, utterly dramatic squeak as she clutched a hand to her chest and turned to look at Sebastian, giving him a sigh of relief. "Oh! It's you!" she cried softly, leaning against the door as if she was about the faint.
"Merlin, I thought I was done for, and I just kept thinking right then, 'If only I'd stayed with Sebastian, I'd have been safe!!' Oh mercy, the vapors!" She began fanning at herself, fighting the grin and giggles that wanted to bubble up out of her.
"My saviour," she added, pushing the act aside as she leaned up and planted a soft kiss on his cheek. "Where, oh where would I be without you, hm?"
She winked lightly, then slipped into her quarters, leaving the door open for him to follow inside.
The fanning was a bit much -- too much for him to take. He had to burst into laughter as she acted like he was her saviour. And then the question to boot. Hmm. Where would she be without him?
Grinning as he stepped into her quarters and shut the door, he shrugged lightly. "Well, let me think about this a moment," he began, pulling off his robes and draping them over the back of the couch. "I do believe that, without me, you would currently be in Gabriel what's-his-face's quarters, having a shag that would likely end up being sub-par."
As he finished, he began to nod rather seriously, as though that were just a fact.
Because, as everyone knew, Bastian was the best shag that Veronica would ever have. Of course.
Ronnie loved how easily he just sauntered into her quarters, removing his robe and making himself at home, comfortable with his surroundings. It was definitely a plus, and it earned him bonus points each time he did it. She supposed he'd always had a bit of that in him, but seeing it now was attractive.
She happily moved through the small kitchen, fetching a pair of drinks -- there was no need to ask anymore, she just knew what he wanted, what they always had. Routine, but far from boring.
Pausing, she feigned a look of confused concern. "I'm sorry, who? I've no idea what you're talking about, y'know. Only eyes for one handsome Auror, I'm afraid."
She nodded seriously, returning to the sitting room with the glasses and sinking into the couch.
