It had taken him almost an entire five minutes to choose between two scarves before coming down to meet the others. There was the house scarf in which he could display his Hufflepuff pride in while at Hogsmeade and then there was the orange fluffy thing that his mother had mailed him. That piece didn’t look all that attractive but hey, it was comfortable. Another minute had gone by before he finally settled on using the orange fluffy one, the last thing he needed was to catch one of those colds that had been going around ( ... )

Jackie watched with mirth in her eyes as she noticed Akira approach. She almost lunged forward herself, in an effort to catch him before he slipped, but luckily he didn't and she didn't have to.

"Hi, Akira!" She grinned brightly, giving him a one-armed hug (as her other hand was currently holding the umbrella up) in greeting. "Nah..." She rushed to assure him. "Still waiting for Ari."

"So... how've you been? How are classes going?" she asked. "Hope you didn't get caught up in the midst of the love potion escapade from earlier this year."

“That’s good, that’s good!” It was always a good thing to be meeting up in a group with more than one girl. Since well, usually at least one of them would be later than him and it’d make him feel less bad then if he were to be the very last one to arrive. Akira had weird logic like that.

How had he been lately? “I’ve been pretty good. Surviving all my NEWT courses so far and avoided getting involved into anything scary, as tricky as that is and hum, you know my luck. Even if I tried I wouldn’t be able to pick the cup that had the love potions in it.” Not that Akira wanted to be drugged with it, since; you never know what you were going to do under influence of drugs. Especially magical ones, eep!

“What about you? I haven’t really gotten a good chat with you in a long while. What’s been up with you lately?”

Jackie laughed, giving him a wry smile. "Your luck? That's like my luck with anything related to love," she said a bit tongue-in-cheek. She angled her head in thought, but gave him a relieved look. "Though everyone said it was awful, so I should be happy to have missed it."

"Yeah..." She nodded. "It has been a while. Not since the summer, I think. And ordinary mail just doesn't hold a candle to OWLs." She grinned again. "Me?" Should she tell him about the whole Gabe awkwardness? Not now... maybe later, as today was supposed to be fun and not depressingly gloomy.

"I made my house quidditch team!" she said excitedly. "I'm also doing some work for Nurse Drake, just to see if I'd be good at healing... and I've got OWLs too, of course."

"Are you dressing up for Halloween?" she asked, as the idea came to mind.

Of course, Akira being a guy would find it interesting if two girls snogged in front of him... but Jackie wasn't that type of girl, and if she knew what he had been thinking, he'd have a bruise on his arm right about now. She really had to talk to him later to tell her everything that was up (and down) in her life.

Introductions again? Jackie was happy to oblige. "Ming, this is Sascha. Sascha, you're right - that..." She watched Ming dart around Akira. "... is Ming."

She laughed as Ming's voice was muffled from behind Akira. "I heard. And Juhi agrees. You need to eat your vegetables! That way you can grow as tall as Akira here."

Poor Aki would see no girls snogging. Ari preferred her snogging partners to be male, thanks, so she wasn't about to go off and kiss a friend to prove a point. I'm sure Akira will somehow manage to survive ( ... )

Ming held onto Akira's robes and was trying to hide behind him when Ari spoke again. "You could pinch HIS cheeks," he suggested, pointing up at Akira. Anything to distract the insanity towards himself. Anything. So much for men sticking together, eh?

"And I don't want to kiss anyone. That's GROSS!" Ew, seriously, the mouth is for eating, and talking. Why were they even discussing this? When she said that they could kiss in front everyone, he almost died. His eyes widened by a lot and his nose scrunched up as if he had just smelt something really awful. Like the stinking tofu or something. "Are you insane? You're gonna kiss right here?!" He covered his eyes quickly and mumbled "I'm not looking, I'm not looking" repeatedly, knowing it must've looked silly, but this was going to be traumatizing!

He heard the mention of being tall and lifted one hand from his eyes a little. "I want to be tall. Do they have chocolates that make you grow taller, too?" No more vitamin pills, no more vegetables? This sounded too good to be true!

Jackie laughed when Ming suggested pinching Akira's cheeks, wondering if Ari would take the suggestion. It would serve him right as he was the one who started this cheek-pinching business.

"Ari!" She mock-scolded her friend, although she was giggling at the 'chocolate is better than vegetables' line. "You still have a few years left to grow... and Ming! You have to eat your vegetables!" Gawd, she hoped she didn't sound like his mother.

Then, she looked thoughtful. Maybe if they had chocolates that were packed with vitamins like vegetables, kids would like them more... but that would probably be some potion-induced chocolate which wouldn't last too long (unless taken consistently, which would just be like taking vitamins everyday, so there wouldn't be any point to that, would there?).
