And that was how Jack found him in her quest to relieve herself of boredom. It wasn't often that she came across him in such deep solitude, and Miss Kestrel was hardly one able to resist a rare find.

Her stroll ceasing, she pulled back and angled herself towards the bench he'd currently stretched out over. Steps were leisurely and quiet, and Jack waited until she was close enough to peer down at her cousin with an arched brow, fingers flexing within the confines of uniform pants pockets.

"Y'know, if it's a tattoo yer after I know this bloke named Fingers back home. Not licensed but wonderful work. Yes yes. Creative. Colorful. If you like purple skulls. Orange tombstones. Flourecent, menacing figures of death and impending doom...Cheery fellow! Plants posies in'is spare time." Nod.

It was easy enough to place that voice, and Will glanced up with a grin, chuckling at Jack's cheerful by-the-by greeting. The quill he'd been using was lain aside, the task of inking those intricate black spirals and symbols across his skin like a sort of glove abandonned, if only for the moment.

"Yeah, but they're a bit permenant, aren't they? Gran's already tetchy about me getting my ear pierced," he replied with a snort. "You'd think I'd come in riding the fifth horse of the Apocolypse, the way she carried on when I suggested it."

Shaking her head she lifted a finger and wagged it back and forth; working the digit in sync with the smacking "Tsk tsk tsk," of tongue against the roof of mouth. "That's where ya went wrong. I believe in the approach of do before you say. Discoveries are better than warnings, leaves people in speechless shock long enough for you to get away. Like mum when I cut my hair." Crooked grin.

Lowering her hand to pocket it once more, Jack shifted in a languid sort of standing slump. "Whut'er you doing out here all on'yer lonesome? Usually yer accompanied by a Ravenclaw of sum sort."

"You noticed that too, huh?" he replied dryly, reaching down to rub the back of his hand against the grass, quickly smearing the majority of his artwork off into the ground before drawing it back up again.

"There's something odd with that, I figure. I mean, I sure as Hell don't belong in the house, but...well, with our lot, can you blame me?" He grinned widely at that and shook his head. "Few tolerable ones, though. Emilia sometimes. Ranger. You, now and again."

Of course he wasn't below prodding back now and again. He just wasn't feeling all that fiesty today...then again, Jack had a way of turning your outlook on a given day completely upside down.

Here's hoping.

"...so, you're not speaking from personal experiance at this point or anything, are you?" Will couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow, though by now, such proclaimations were to be expected. Especially from Jack.

"Anyhow, I don't think that Shihoko's quite THAT smitten with me...I'm sure she'll find someone who'll adore her back before she leaves Hogwarts," he added with a firm nod. At least, he hoped as much for her.

Absently he'd begun toying with the ring on his finger again, as he usually did when he was listning to something, and suddenly he blinked, recalling a certain conversation around said ring. "Oh! You know how Gran said she didn't know where this came from?" The hand bearing the ring was lifted pointedly.

"It's always th'ones y'least expect." Said a rather warning tone, before she was slapped with a rather violent memory involving usually soft hands and the side of her face.

The key word here is usually.

Grunting, and rubbing at her cheek absently, Jack looked to Will as he slid seamlessly into a subject change. For a moment Kestrel debated not biting... but if Will really didn't want to talk about it...

"No. But for the sake of your story let's move on. So you found out different, did you?"

"Aye. From Ranger."

He stuck his hand out further, so the other could have a decent look at it. "That's apparently the Stalai family crest. Don't know how our family got hold of it though...but there it is. One of his family's rings went missing a long time ago, and somehow we ended up with it. He's got one identical to it. Funny, huh?"

Yes. Funny and strange and it seriously had boggled with his head...then again, he'd had a lot more on his mind than just that ring.

Like a certain Ravenclaw...

And she does have a decent look at it, right after swiping it with a flick of her wrist and lifting it up to be examined in the sunlight. "Family, eh...Hnm."

And not just any hnm, the type of hnm that generally means Jack is thinking about several things at once. Plotting perhaps? Never a good thing.

Anyway, she gives the ring a flick as if it were a coin, watching as it spiraled through the air towards Will. "Nice. He let you keep it, eh? Interestin. Hnm..."
