Wednesdays were usually a mecca of studying. Two study halls and no classes? Sebastian's idea of a pleasant way to relax. Though today he couldn't seem to be able to concentrate on his History of Magic text. After one Study Hall down, he was beginning to think he could see where everyone else was coming from when they complained of all the Goblin Wars. As he couldn't bring himself to pay attention long enough to get into the details...

And that thought alone was enough to spend the second Study Hall wishing he had a much larger textbook with which to hit his head against. To, you know, clear it.

So he entered the Ravenclaw Tower in a highly confused, if not somewhat agitated state. He was all for falling down on the closest piece of furniture somewhere and forcing himself into unconciousness.

Ah, but there was Rylie. Blinking slowly, he stood still in the doorway and said, "Are they then?"

Pausing, he grinned slightly and walked over to the window, stopping a foot or two from her before giving a small, somewhat unneccessary, wave.

Rylie's heart skipped a beat as she heard a voice from the doorway, not having expected anyone to find her. A rather silly thought on her part, considering she wasn't actually hidden from view, and the room was right on the way to the common room. But she instantly calmed down as Sebby joined her by the window, waving for no apparent reason.

"Agreeable? Charming? Provocative?" Rylie continued jokingly and quirked an eyebrow at him.

She stopped tapping her quill and cocked her head to the side, smiling as she took in the sight of him. Enchanting, Tantalizing, Bewitching, Magnetic...

"You look exhausted. Where've you been?"

Choosing to reply to the synonyms with a mere amused wrinkling of the nose, Sebastian replied, "Oh... Study Hall."

Exhausted? Well, bah. He liked to think he could go around the halls being exhausted without actually looking exhausted. Perhaps Rylie was just unduly perceptive. Er, well, yes... she was actually.

He bashfully scritched the back of his neck and added, "Just er... the books wouldn't let me study."

Yes, blame it on the books. Because he most definitely was not going to blame it on a confused half dozen house elves and some snogging... as that would be rude. Looking back up at Rylie, he grinned. Alright, so his plans involving furniture had dissolved. As he didn't think climbing onto the small window ledge would be very ideal... or safe really. Um. Instead he continued to stand there, hand still at the back of his neck.

Why were they made to go to Study Halls? Honestly! Anyone in their house, Ravenclaw that is, would make time to study on their own and be just fine. Study Halls only made one feel as though they had to study and took some of the fun out of it all. Well, she thought studying was fun, as long as it the right subject.

"Betrayal? Sounds like a tough day," Rylie responded and clicked her tongue, putting her head back to rights with a sigh.

Although she wouldn't have minded making Sebby sit with her on the ledge as tight a squeeze as it would have been, she was feeling sympathetic. Not that she could explain why she was sympathetic. The truth was that he had invaded her brain with his... snogging and looking adorable and everything else that came along with Sebby, and that and NOT the books had kept her from her studies. Of course, she wasn't complaining. She couldn't complain, because he was... because she was stopping that train of thought RIGHT NOW ( ... )

Sebastian chuckled softly as Rylie transfigured a chair and pulled it towards her; chuckling to keep from sounding nervous. Which he was, really. It was not rational, this. He'd known Rylie for how long? Well, known of her since 1st year at least. The line grew a bit blurrier when he tried to remember when they actually had started talking and spending time together, but it had been for a while... which was why nervousness just wasn't rational. Logically, it didn't make sense.

Of course, kissing someone in the kitchens in front of people hadn't made much sense either. So who was he to judge?

Taking hold of the stool, Sebastian dropped his bookbag and sat down, leaning over slightly to attempt a position that resembled comfort. He would have suggested the Common Room, with actual couchs and everything, but thought the better of it. If he was feeling nervous with her alone wouldn't it be a bit more awkward with gawking Claws around? Right ( ... )

Rylie was delighted as Sebastian took a seat on the stool she'd made, but couldn't help but laugh knowing it was probably uncomfortable. She'd made the thing out of parchment if that was any indication. She loved parchment, but transfiguring it into a seat? Not the sturdiest of things she could have chosen.

She couldn't believe the feeling he gave her just by walking into the same room. She tried to think back to when it could have happened, that switch of gears, but everything seemed to link together in such a logical way that it only ended up leaving her in awe that she hadn't noticed where she'd been headed. To be honest, she was perfectly happy to be in a small, empty, uncomfortable room with him alone. Because they were alone, and they probably had one or two things to talk about. With privacy, and no elves.

She made a face as he mentioned History of Magic. Did anyone like studying all those odd little wars and... what was this? Did he say ALL of them? Well, that was definitely worth investigating.

"Oh, Study Hall has been ( ... )

Shifting again in the stool, Sebastian decided to lean forward and prop his elbows on his knees. It brought him rather close up to Rylie, which was... well. It was comfortable.

"Well yes. Having that problem too, are we?" he replied, bringing himself close to something that just may be labelled a smirk. He briefly wondered whether Rylie would be proud. Of his ability to smirk, that is.

"Er, you know. Because elves... distracting."

Alright, he should probably hold his tongue now, as he seemed to be bordering on the suggestive. And that, of course, would only lead to further embarassment. But he felt he had to say something about it. If only about the elves, as they had none so pleasantly invaded his nightmares. And... other mares.

Rylie beamed at Sebby as he leaned in closer and hinted he may just be having the same trouble as her. Was that a SMIRK on Sebastian Rivera's face? She just about died of happiness then and there. Winking and smirking, just for her? Well, she'd picked the right bloke all right.

She wanted to tell him so, very badly, but she couldn't bring herself to say anything. Although she was almost one hundred percent sure that Sebastian would never have kissed her if he didn't feel anything toward her, how could she be sure he wanted a relationship? It was possible to fancy someone without wanting to pursue anything, right? It seemed ridiculous to try and figure out for herself if he was a relationship type of guy, and she was certainly too embarrassed to ask. As observant as Rylie usually was, she couldn't get clear sight of this one.

So, if they had to hint until someone said something direct, she'd play along with that. Besides, it was fun. It was like... flirting ( ... )

Oh Merlin. Were they flirting? Only... it seemed much like what they always did. Teasing eachother, or more of Rylie teasing him and he returning with sarcastic replies. Was that flirting? Sebastian chose to think not, as flirting was something silly people did and it probably wasn't much fun. This, however, was amusing. And was Rylie implying...

Oh. Maybe it was flirting.

"Really? You must enjoy Ancient Runes homework more than I'd thought. I have to admit, I like studying as well as the next person, but mind boggling? Er..."

Ohhh there it was again. He was smirking. Or, well, it was close to a smirk.

He realized all of a sudden that they were going to have to actually talk about what had happened eventually. Which didn't sit too well, as he highly doubted anything he'd say on the subject would come out incoherent. He'd much rather write it or something, though it would be rather ridiculous to run out on Rylie only to have an owl sent to her a half hour later.... But when had he not been ridiculous in the past few days?

Er, now she'd gone and gotten herself confused. Was he trying to suggest that their kiss wasn't mind boggling, or was he teasing her in a 'make her think he didn't know what she was on about' sort of way? Apparently flirting was a lot more complicated than she'd realised. Or maybe it was only difficult for her, because every statement had to be carefully processed. What would a flirty girl do now? Flip her hair or pat his arm? She decided continuing to smirk was her best option, as he was continuing to do so, but her face was giving her away with each passing minute. Rylie Logan was not supposed to blush!

Why did it seem so much easier to write to him in her journal? She would have done that... just said what she wanted to with words on paper, as was her way, but how long would she be able to live with that? Eventually she'd be dissatisfied, longing for a real face-to-face conversation.

Maybe she'd owl him more often, regardless. If writing was what she liked, and Sebby was also what she liked, then combining the two couldn't be so ( ... )

Nurgh, so they seemed to be deviating from the comfortable sidling around things. Which caused Sebastian to slip back into nervousness. He would have to send Rylie an owl after this anyhow, because he doubted whatever he was about to say would be halfway understandable. In fact, he would send her several owls... for good measure? Yes so, a bit like backing out BUT HE WASN'T. Just wanted to make this all less confusing?...

"Potions?" Point made. Because that? What he'd just said? Whhhy did he say that? Okay, he could talk... about this. Leaning back again, Sebastian began biting on his thumbnail and wasted a moment in kicking his bookbag so that it would lay on the floor straighter. Yes, he might just be hopeless.

"Or, you know, the kitchens? Because... the kitchens..." he blurted out, biting his lip as he wandered off. That was obvious wasn't it? It was talking. And about the kissing, which apparently he was calling 'kitchens' for some idiotic reason. Rylie would have to pick up on that, or he might have to do something drastic ( ... )

Potions? Well, not exactly what she'd been thinking. Maybe he didn't get it. Or maybe he did, and was trying to drag it out longer? If she could have smacked her head repeatedly against the wall without looking mental, she would have!

"Oh yes, well I did have a dream about Snape and a goblin string quartet the other night I just can't seem to shake," Rylie said before actually thinkingWHAT!? String Quartets and SNAPE!? What on earth possessed her to say a thing like that? Didn't they, the they people refer to without actually having anyone in mind that is, tell you to think before speaking? Why couldn't she follow that rule, then ( ... )

Eurgh what? Rylie had dreams about Snape? That she couldn't stop having gah no no no, she's joking. Probably, right?! Because if not, he'd never be able to go to Potions again and he liked Potions! He was good at it!

...she better be joking. Though it had effectively eclipsed his nervousness with... well, shock really.

"Er, I'm going to pretend you didn't say the," he waved his hand at nothing in particular, "Snape... with the dreaming and- yes."

And then she continued on with the 'kitchens', and he wondered if she was also using it as a code word and that that had the possibility for far too much confusion and that he should probably start saying things without thinking or he'd never say anything at all.

Taking a noticable breath, he replied, "Yes, that was... distracting."

Okay, not the revelation he wanted... oh Merlin and what was she doing? Rylie seemed inexpicably more scattered than he was. Which was... what was it? Mind boggling. It boggled the mind and made him want to laugh. Which he did for a moment before checking ( ... )

She should have hugged him for ignoring that horrible, frightening joke that only managed to backfire on her. Although it honestly wasn't much worse than the house elves. At least she didn't say it was SNAPE watching her and Sebby snog in the kitchens. That would just be... nightmares. Yes, many...many nightmares ( ... )

And this was where Sebastian became completely lost. Not that he didn't understand what Rylie was talking about, but... what did you say to that? To you's and me's and- gah it was all too confusing and there had to be some overused phrase that people used in this situation, but if there was he couldn't think of it.

Sooo they both understood what the other was talking about. Was that step overcome? Look: communication! Except it was probably about to end, as Sebastian hadn't the faintest idea what the second step should be. Nor did he think he could communicate very well any longer. As if he was doing so swimmingly before...

"Yes. Yes that's what I meant with... kitchens," stopping, he gazed off into the corner and waited several moments in an awkward silence to blurt out very quickly, "AndIdon'treallyknowwhattosaynowI'msorry!"

Alright, so he was going for the pathetic 5 year-old approach. It might work? Ohhh cringe.

Rylie blinked rapidly as Sebby crashed his words into one and avoided her eyes. He was absolutely adorable. Rylie would normally have no problem in stating her opinion, even if it was unwelcome. She did so all the time, and nerves had never stopped her. This was getting to be ridiculous. Absurd. Bizarre. Comical. Oh no! Now synonyms in alphabetical order? Ravenclaw, indeed.

Rylie Logan would not normally stumble over her words, or worry about how people would react to what she felt she needed to say. Now some wonderful (astounding, pleasing, remarkable) boy had found a way to send her spiraling off course.

Not anymore. Not if it wasn't going to get them anywhere. Besides, if Sebby had fancied her for longer than the extent of the kitchen incident, then he must not have been fancying akward Rylie, but just.... Rylie. Her.

"I fancy you," she said.

She was going to ease into it originally, of course, but that wouldn't have done any good. She would have only ended up confusing him, or possibly even herself, and then they'd be back ( ... )
